Anyone know any info on the upgrades for the Lil Cat?
My soon-to-be six-year-old niece is complaining already.
I guess she can't be stuck at 8m.p.h. forever.
Any info or links would be greatly appreciated.

Put a zip tie through the spring on the throttle / Governer assembly. Zip it so the spring will not stretch. I did this to a friends sled and you have to run to keep up with it.

Be careful with the zip tie......If you purchase a governor by-pass kit it is exactly that.... a "zip tie". But you need to leave a little strech in that throttle spring. Remember that is an underpowered sled for obvious reasons, could do motor damage if ran too hard.

My son just turned six and he also was getting bored at 8mph this winter on his 03 ZR120. I went with a high perfomance clutch, new gear and quick change hub, along with the by-pass "zip tie". All of these are made by Sportech and were purchased through a Dennis Kirk magazine. There tech hotline was very helpful in determining the correct gear.....They'll want to know the weight of the rider. The gear itself was relatively inexpensive and is very easy to change and can be changed again as the rider grows. Now he laugh's and yells so load while riding you can here him at the other side of the yard with helmit on and visor down. :D :D

The only problem now is that he wants it to sound like my 800(Braaaaap). Was told that you can cut the existing silelncer through the middle and remove the guts and then have it welded back together. That should make it a little throaty......... :hallo1:

No joke it is in the shop :blahblah: :blahblah: Too much air time in the UP the last trip up there just before the warm up. It's sitting at Bay Cycle in Bay City, Mi waiting for a new SS shock assembly that is on back order from AC. That's a $699 shock......OUCH!!!!!!!

Upgrading the springs and two new idler wheels....total bill $947.00

I don't want the kid to get "big air", just a few extra m.p.h.
Can I do it with just a gear change?I'm leary about bypassing the governor.

There's a guy in our area that's installing some kind of wheel kit in the rear suspension that allows them to roll easier, improving the mph.

I saw the wheel kit on the Sportech website.I'd like to try the gears first.

Yeah I started him with the clutch and gear and let him get use to it. That put the speed at 11-12mph but he's a big kid. (49in and 63lbs) Depending on how tall of a gear you will probably need the clutch also. The "zip-tie" works well you just need to leave some give in the spring. Speed now is around 14-15mph.

Total package cost was about $150....well worth it to here him laugh like that. Biggest bang for the buck is deffinately the zip-tie. I bought the actual kit and it ONLY cost $6.99. Ofcourse that was .05 cents for the zip-tie and $6.94 for the directions and Sportech sticker. I did get a kick out of watching Hunter find the perfect spot to place the sticker on the hood though.
