It seems the '04 'gade is geared really low, have they been like this since their inception a couple of years ago? For us flatlanders, how close can they be geared to the standard MXZ?? I know it takes some power to turn the 136/1.25 sneaker. I think I'd like to try a 'gade but don't really want to take a big hit on topend, not to mention what the low gear will do to fuel range.
Any thoughts?

Cheers, #1

It is because they have the new 10 tooth drivers, they half to gear them down. The Blair Morgan 800 with the 10 tooth were lower as well to make up for the larger drivers and they are faster.

OK, so what ratio is the Blair Morgan using?? Inquiring minds want to know.

FYI, the BM is 23/43, so the 'gade isn't a whole lot lower. Not as bad as I thought.

If you can believe the specifications on the Ski Doo web site, the 2004 800 X and the Renegade 800 are both geared exactly the same. 23/43. It is only the 600 Renegade that is 21/43. Does anyone know if this is correct?

I've got a 2002 Renegade 800, it was (in my opinion) the best sled S-Doo built. My only complaint was top-end which was at best 100mph in perfect conditions.(maybe 95mph+)
Since most trail riding is at 30-70 which was perfect for the gearing. The 1.25" track is awesome. Pig on fuel, extra gallon & a half compared to regular MXZ 8's.

I'm ordering an '04' Renegade, standard or X, I haven't decided.

However, I have been told the gearing is the same between the MXZ & MXZ Renegade.

As per above, the late season Blair Morgan did 'roll' a lot better than a standard REV this past season. I found the REV's would slow quite quickly when you're off the gas.

So, you'll lose a bit of speed with the 136" / 1.25", but I think it'll be a better overall sled.

The regular REV's were awesome in deep snow this year...so next year should be better without the beavertail plus the 136".

My dealer told me all 800's are geared at 23/43. The 600 'Gade is at 21/43 and the MX Z is 22/43. He also said they keep making running changes and this could change again. He also told me the X windshield is now about 4 in taller. Still not much help in the cold but I like the looks. X sleds also get chromoly a-arms and the 'Gade now has a 47 in ski stance.
