: 1 To 1.25 Track Is A Ripoff

After looking thru the parts and accessories catalog, I noticed the difference in price between the OEM 1 and 1.25 inch lug is only 29 USD. Yet, ski-doo wants $200 more in their spring break promotions. They seem to be fair with the reverse and electric start options, but they're hammering us on the tracks. What are they trying to pull??

Cheers, #1

They do it because they can! That's capitalism.

where are you seeing this $29.00 difference ? your thread inspired me to look at royal distributing and they have a 1" for $499.00 and a 1 1/4" for $709.00. now i am not looking to see much of the differences i just looked at a middle of the road 1" and what looks the same 1 1/4".

I got it out of the Ski-doo 2003 Parts, Accessaries & Clothing catolog. Page 129, P/N 504151917 lists for $579.97, that's for the 1 inch. Then there's P/N 504151815 that's $608.97 for the 1.25. That a $29 dollar difference.
They're trying to take us to the cleaners. That should be about a $50 dollar option at the most. Dealer cost about 30 bucks.

the royal distributing site says that any new track take off will be a $350.00 credit towards trading on a new track from them. as for a $29.00 difference in the parts catalogue, that sounds good. parts across the parts counter are usually 5 times as much money as ordered as an option in most industry. should find out what is going on there. can it be the same track ? because if it is compared to the catalogue then the option should be $5.00.

mikadoo,
we don't mention the queen because she blames me for diana and charles splitting up. LOL  diana seen me on the front page of GQ. :D

That's exactly my point, Paul. The 1 inch part number comes back to a 2002 800 MXZX.

I could be wrong but I think the sleds come from the factory with the one inch on and the dealer has to take it off to put the 1.25 on so there would be some labour involved ???

Paul, LOL. With a mug like that, I bet Diana was like putty in your arms!

Before you give $350.00 + your track why not keep it and just buy the track you want? Go to www.tracksusa.com and see what you can get one for. I got a 1 1/4 x 136 new take off from a renegade for $395.00 U.S. funds to my door.
It's really a shame the Canadain dollor is so worthless ???

I agree Hookman after you put it that way it is a scam. At least the track in question is. When I took advantage of the 1.75" track option last spring. My sled came with it from the factory as it was that way when I busted the crate open.

I agree, it's a rip-off. The spring orders come to the dealer with the track you ordered on it already. The dealer has to do nothing but adjust it.

This is a big rip off. Since all the work is being done at the factory it should be cheap. Even if I had to pay an extra $100.00 canadian I would jump on it. But $300 Canadian give me a break. Do they think I'm stupid ? Don't answer that.

Back to the Ski-doo catalog they show the 1.25 x 136 at $579.97 and the 1.75 for $499.97, that's right, the 1.75 is actually $80 cheaper.

I THINK ALL OF US THAT ORDERED NEW SLEDS WITH THE OPTIONAL TRACKS SHOULD MAKE SOME NOISE AT THE DEALER AND GET THIS OPTION PRICED PROPERLY.

It's crap, I tell ya. It's bad enough these things are so overpriced. Now this.

I hear they pay you if you get the 144" with 2" paddle.. kidding, just kidding.... Point well made though. Okay, got another one for you...
Why do they charge $1,500 more for an 800 over a 700? if it's the same amount of metal to make them? Just a little bigger hole drilled in it, with a little bigger piston to make it go faster with a little more HP's.... because they can. Not that it's right, just the way of the world I guess....supply and demand in action. ???

Was waiting for this to come up. I had this happen last year with cat. They wanted 300[cdn] to change my track, the differance is it was being done at the dealer so I could understand a $100 or so to re-re it not 300. But ski-doo want's to charge X amount of dollar's to grab a track out of another bin, which has to go on the sled anyway, and then charge you $100's of dollars for it. I feel your pain.
