: Fuel Milage.
Machzzzz1 04-23-2003, 04:05 PM I was talking to a buddy that sleds with Craig Nickolson (Intrepid snowmobiler). They were testing the 600HO SDI an were reporting 24 to 28mpg. Now that seems a little to good, however he swore up and down that they have made a few changes to the SDI engines and REV chassis and thats what there putting out. Also said the 800SDI will be above 20MPG.
Thats pretty damm close to 300km per tank of fuel. Which sounds very very good...
He also said that the DPM sleds will get better milage as well. Now ive owned a few sleds made in the 90s ranging from 500s to 800 triples and they were all between 140km to 170km per tank. However the 600HO rev of 2003 has been getting 220km per tank which is a huge improvment.
If this is the case im welcoming SDI with open arms. Let the 2 stroke REVOLUTION begin. :D
kennypope 04-23-2003, 04:38 PM bring it on!..........I can't friggin waite if this is the case......and with getting the gade x package that come with the 13liter gas can.........that will give you some awsome fuel range!
I will be able to visit Panteraone and ride up to Fraserdale and back lend some gas to some guy's with MachZ's that run out and go home. And avoid paying 1.60 per liter in Fraserdale!!!
sounds pretty sweat to me!! :D :inlove:
paidncash 04-23-2003, 04:41 PM sounds sweet but i highly doubt it
caper711cc 04-23-2003, 05:09 PM We were out sledding on good friday and we spoke
to a guy that was driving a new 800 s.d.i. and told
us that it was giving him 20-22 mpg (canadian). This
say`s alot for sled which is two-stroke ,and also for me
being a Cat guy tell you (I still ordered the Firecat).
It shows the tech is there if the sled comanys are serious
about mpg.The best my mpg`s my 711 efi ever gave is
17 on good groomed trails and pu#### really hard 14.
Just my .02cents.......................
sawman 04-23-2003, 05:50 PM Machzzzz1 ask Craig if that was on the trailer behind the truck. :)

Imagine going From Timmins to Manitouwadge and fueling up only twice? It's highly unlikely but to get 200+km per tank is still pretty frigin good for a sled that has a 600cc 2 stroke that pushes out around 120 ponies!
CORY9 04-23-2003, 11:09 PM If these figures are accurate, and they can make these engines live, then put me on the list---but not untill next year, when I'm sure they've got the bugs worked out.

Show me a truck worth calling a truck that gets 28mpg. Unless its a diesel, but even for a diesel thats pretty good.
Ive talked to a few guys that have 2003 sdi and they are all getting 20mpg. Remember this is Canadian.
I can almost belive it. Snowmobiles have been big time fuel users, for a engine that size it should be getting 20mpg +.
Oh well we can only hope and wait.
sawman 04-24-2003, 12:36 AM Machzzzz1 one thing about Craig he won't feed you any bs. If thats what he say's I beleive him . Have talked to him on the trail a few times up&up guy.
kennypope 04-24-2003, 01:26 AM Not Canadian..........imperial! if it was Canadian, it would be liters per hundred kilometers.........something that nobody use's cause nobody knows what's good or bad.

200km's per tank........I think it you would be closer to 300km's per tank and that's at 20mpg.....and it's sounds like were gonna get better than that!!!
FishHog 04-24-2003, 08:19 AM Man, I hope those numbers are right.
there is nothing I hate more than stopping for fuel. Not because of the price, just because you have to plan your trip around gas stations.
I thought my 16 mpg was good on my 700 triple.
kennypope 04-24-2003, 04:19 PM Ya and you don't have to run filled up all the time when your bombing around, you would be able to run the sled light..........and enjoy the better handling. :inlove:
Fast Mach Z 04-24-2003, 06:56 PM Hmm.... on the Mach Z with the throttle pinned on the lake, I get about 80 miles per 8 gallons. 10 mpg, not bad........
CORY9 04-24-2003, 08:16 PM Geez, I've got my 2002 legend 600 figured out at 11.5mpg. Trail riding. Must be something wrong. :(
kennypope 04-24-2003, 08:34 PM No that's about right, my dad has a 02 GTSE 600 and he gets around that........between 10-13mpg. That's all they get. That's why the sdi motors are a big deal. Even the 600 ho's carbed good on fuel. But the older 600's not so great, compairable to the 800's ???

The old man gets 12mph with that gtse 600 and he drives really slow, and I got the same milage with my old mxz800x and I ride it hard. Bring on the sdi's.
