I was thinking of doing something to the exhaust on my '02 ZL800 EFI SS (the alphabet sled). I previously had a '95 Wildcat and loved the way that one sound stock with twin pipes. It just sound tough compared to my single piped ZL. What would you guys suggest? I just want it to sound tough - but not too loud. Could I achieve this by just adding twin pipes or should I try something else? Let me know what you think. I've never messed with piping before, so I don't really know much about it. Thanks in advance.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think there is twin pipe setup for that sled [EFI] that I would trust. I know you can get a single for it, but I'm not sure about the twins record with efi. Anyways, if your only after [ sounding tough] and not to concerned with adding power you might want to look into a performance silencer, its a hell of a lot cheaper, GOOD-LUCK....

Ya, I'm not too concerned with adding power. That 800 is plenty strong for me. Are there any particular silencers that you would recommend?

I would go with a SLP or BM silencer :inlove:,

Like clicker said, plus you could have a look at D&D, MBRP, or speedwerx. They all have websites so I'm sure they can give the info your looking for. The thing with these cans you will not gain any power, you could even lose a little with some of them, so do your homework and you should be alright. I would try D&D,SLP, and speedwerx first and see what they have to offer, if I had to trust one sight unseen it would be D&D.....

Louder is better. I have D&D on my sled.

I do want it a little bit louder, but not ear bleeding loud. Have you guys noticed any power loss with the D & D or MBRP on your 800 EFI's?

For what its worth, I ran a PSI single with a B/M RT canister last winter on my '02 ZR 800 efi without a problem. I had a MBRP can at first , but it was too annoying. My current combo not only works, but sounds nice too. With the efi, your already tight with your jetting so you won't get that blahh fat sound on those 40 degree days. I've had '95, '99 and a '00 700 ZR's all with twin pipes. You will not be able to replicate the cool sound of multi- pipes with a single unfortunately, but my set-up sounds and performs excellent and my buddies 800 ZR with the Speedworks single/can sounds pretty darn good as well. PSI, Speedworks and D&D will all stand behind the use of thier single with efi, (just unplug one magic wire), so you may want to stick with one of those companies. Good luck.

I have a D&D Quiet Can on my 01 zr 800 Carbed. A little Noisy and Vibration cruising under 35mph will Kill your Hearing. Above that it Sounds Great, Takes off some weight, and I think it gives it a Little more power on bottom and midrange. I just put one on my Wifes 02 800 efi, Sounds MEAn. I dont know about loss of power yet. I have not had a chance to ride with no snow. D&D is the only way me and 4 other Friends go for Cats. It is the only Make of Snowmobiles they are dedicated to, Testing and Research. Good Luck. "Aint Life Great on a ZR 8"
