Just wondering how many miles other trail riders average before they have to buy a new track. *My TCat has just a little over 4000 miles and the track is really starting to look worn. *I'm sure it depends largely on riding conditions/style, but I'm curious what the average is.

In Michigan, 4-5000 is tops before the clips are toast.

I got 6000kms on my '00 700 formZ studded .88 lug and other than the tips of lugs being a little worn its in perfect shape. I dont baby it just dont rip across pavement like a mad man

*funny you ask when yesterday i was looking at my brother in-laws 97 mxz 583 with over 8000 miles on it and the track is original. i only looked because he has a new track sitting on the shelf and i thought i might put it on for him but the original track looks great, i know that he has replaced track clips and how many or all i don't know. he is the one person that gave me the shove to get back sledding and i have quite often asked him before i went to do something to my sled. i was all set to go get picks for my sled when he said the picks are what ruins a track so after looking at his track i'd say his story seems to hold water.

i have about 7500 miles on the track on my polaris, and its fine. *if you use them like they are supposed to be used (ie, on snow...) than tracks last forever.

almost 11000 km's on my original track and still looking good. No studs of course.

Just traded off my 94 Indy 500 SKS that had 7400 miles on it and the track was still in good shape. Some of you guys must be real hard on tracks.

I have 4800 miles on my99 zrt 800 track. It still looks like new. *As far as picks i have 144 put them in the day i brought the sled home, no break-in or anything, stud it and ride it. *As far as wear and tear, i don't mind using asphalt, rocks, roots, frozen mud what ever it's all good traction. *I don't plan on changing my track for 2 more years. *Hope fully i won't have this sled by then.

4200 miles, 4000 since studding and it is still like new, I have about 50 out of 144 studs that could use replacement.

I have a '97 ZL 440 with 5000 miles and the track is in great condition, the clips are still great too. It even had the original slides at 4800. *And I run the average ditches, just make sure you hit some good snow once in a while.

I just bought the sled and didn't look at the track closely enough. *The sections I glanced at looked ok, but I was just under it putting on new sliders and found a couple spots that are actually torn. *Only 1 stud tore through but there are a couple other spots that are in rough shape. *Guess I'll be spending the $$ at the end of the season on a new track and studs.

My track has about 2100 on it and is in ok shape. *It has some fibers showing on the inside because of the bolt that holds the shock broke and the shock rubbed on the track. * http://www.snowmobileworld.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

14,000+ miles on .875 Polaris (488 fan engine), 10,000+ miles on .75 Indy Lite.

Track life depends largely on never getting the fiberglass cross rods hot. That seems to be the biggest factor in the life of the track. We have very hard snow much of the time but staying aware of the slide condition (are they melting?) seems to be a large factor in saving the track. Certain suspensions and/or excessive track tension, an old Yamaha Enticer comes to mind, are very high friction and don't help with long track life. Heavy applied horsepower probably doesn't add to long track life either.
