i set the front spring so the sled will scoot over the top of the bumps. works great, but i keep breaking limit straps. anybody know of a better material to make them out of. also extended straps out as far as i could go. then i can't keep front end on the ground. the same as not having any on.

How do you have the strap set? When the sled is just sitting at rest, no weight on it, what does the strap look like? is it tight? Does it have a lot of slack? Is the retainer smooth or are there some burrs present from something that happened in the past like a shock coming unbolted or something? Straps don't just normally keep breaking. Is the front shock in good condition? Rebounding freely with no oil in it could cause problems, but I'm leaning toward a problem area where the strap rides.

Make sure you are using OEM straps that arrived bagged. I have had only bad experiences with aftermarket straps that are stored forever open to the shop atmosphere at the dealership. They do tend to deteriorate like old tires / tracks.

I have ridden sleds all my life, and have yet to brake a limit strap! Something else must be wrong? While sitting at rest they should be loose. I have always kept them as loose as possable, when the front end seems to light bring the nuts in a couple threads, untill you are sattisfied. You will be able to fine tune your sled by really feeling the difference between a couple threads. When was the last time your shocks were recharged? I would check entire skid to see if there is something goin on under there. Give me a holler if you can't find anything, maybe we can figure something out! Honk

sorry i didn't reply sooner. wanted to see what everybody thought. first of all this is on a 96 pantera and mainly rode double. i did find shocks low on oil and put new in. straps were still tight when sled was just sitting. if i loosen them up ride suffers. specialy for rider. thats what caused this deal in the first place. thank god i'm not riding double anymore. lol better shocks would probably help i know or don't ride so fast. going to try thicker material for straps.

i have a 2001 panther and a buddy has a 2002 pantera, we both run set-ups quite close.Have you gone through the book to set it up properly? Start at the mins and addjust up from their. I keep the straps loose maybe about four or five threads showing, if the front end keeps coming up try another thread untill you are satisfied.I have never seen a strap break, and I have been riding since the early 70s. When you were riding double were you putting up the fiberglass overload springs? They work great if both people weigh alot. I ride with the wife and we don't need them, we weigh in at 340 total or so. When I bought mine the dealer said that you can put the rear cross shaft in two different holes. look at it and you can see which hole will make the skid collapse quicker. Maybe you need to change that so it doesn,'t do that quick. Give a holler if you want to discuss more
