Either should work, but the SC10 will drop right in. The SC10II might have a different rear mount location. To put in the SC10, you just need the rear mount brackets off of a 97 F2000 chassis such as a MachZ Mach1 or Formula III. They came with SC10s from the factory

I know a guy that had a 95 Mach 1 670 that put in a SC-10. The swap was not too hard if you have the right tools. The major concern is the rear mounts for the skid and getting them properly squared. Take your time and measure and measure again. I doo believe (and somebody here can correct me) the all of the SC series skids will fit after you get the SC-10 installed.
By the way, after he put the SC-10 in it made a world of differance on how the sled rode and handled.

I know that the mounting on a SC10III and a SC10II is quite different. The rear holes will actually line up, but MXZonly put a SC10III in his 02 MXZ800 (SC10II stock) and it would bind, and required different mounting hole locations.

I wanted to put a SC-10 that was off a 96 MXZ and it would not fit on my 96 FIII, the rear mountings were not the same, i was gona play with it this summer but i sold it instead ;) So you will prolly have the same problem, like Dave and Brian said, get the 97 brackets, you should be ok with them .

Post some pics when your done.

I did a 96 a couple of years ago and used the 96 brackets.
You need to remove them and just re-position them I believe @ 25" from the front mounting holes.
I would check a SC-10 to comfirm the distance.

Sc 10 and Sc 10 II are interchangeable, sc10III is not. A lot of people also wanted the vr shock that is on a sc10III, this will not fit on the sc10,II. The tunnel I believe is different as well on the III's

Thanks for the diagram on the upgrade. A few other people in here were quoting 23" mounting center to center and I looked at mine and said theres no way. It'd be to tight and compress the suspension. I'm upgrading my 94 mxz 470 with a 2000 Mzx 600 Sc-10 II. I've got alot of enhancement (shall we say) done on the sled that will make people ask "What was that?" and "They didn't make one of those in that year." It has a 97 670cc completely rebiult, top to bottom, with Jaws pipes, cluthed and jet of course, in it as of this w/e. With a 2000 front and rear suspension. Kimpex Tomohawk 1.25" 3.00 pitch conversion track with 140 1.375" studs. Rolled chaincase kit, for front tunnel clearance.
This baby is going to fun. I cant wait till its all back together. And the snow flies.
