What can remedy the whining that you hear off of the EDGE models when you decelerate?

Ear plugs, they all do it. I guess you can file the tension roller down a bit, helps a little. If you go to Rob Lyons web site (hardcoresledder.com) he has a section on how he did it.

To high chain tension creates more whining.

I have been riding the 02 XC 700 for the past two seasons and while I don't really like to hear the noise, I don't think that it's all that bad. It's just something you get used to.

Hear the chaincase for Miles? C'mon, it's nowhere near that bad, and most sleds I've been on make SOME noise. My '02 XC8 doesn't seem that much worse than the GenII's I ride ('00 XCR8, '00 SKS), at least mine anyway. I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that the intake and exhaust systems are so much quieter and that the chaincase noise has just now come to the surface and become noticeable.

HEY I AGREE I HAVE 01 XC 800 AND THE NOISE IS PREETY LOUD ON MY SLED "ESPECIALLY" WHEN I HIT THE BRAKES,AND U CAN HEAR THAT A LONG WAYS AWAY..ITS THE ANGLE THE CHAIN COMES OFF THE TOP SPROCKET,AND I WAS TOLD U CAN FILE DOWN THE CHAIN TENSIONER AND PRETTY MUCH ELIMINATE IT....ITS SOMETHING POLARIS BETTER TAKE CARE OF IN THE FUTURE

All the noise is taken care of on the new Polaris sleds with there new Phantom brakes with a totally redesigned chaincase. Finally!!

If I remember correctly there was a Snowtech issue where this problem was talked about. What was doen was a different set of gears and a different chain. I'll see if I can find the issue. I haven't seen the one from hardcore sledder so i cant comment on that. Alls i know is most of the people there dont care for this site. They say we are too biased to Doo's and Canadians. what ever.

My 01 XC 800 has same noise. Like the other guys, you get used to it.

it is.

as far as chain wine proper adjustment could help. dont put i too tight. BEST oil is mobil 1 synthetic gear lube.

blue is right because this guy he is referring to travels over 9000 miles a season on his sled and had a fix for it on his site. nothing beats experience. ;)
