Have a Gander Mountain opening soon locally. Just wonder if anyone from WI, MI, MN or other places they have stores shops there ? Looking for feedback on prices compared to Cabelas/Bass Pro, good selection of gear and customer service? Any bad experiences? Thanks.

I used to get their catalog, I don't even know if they send them out anymore. But I ordered quite a bit of stuff through them and always found them cheaper then Cabelas. I always got exactly what I ordered and right on time too, I was very happy with them.

I do most of my shopping at Gander Mtn. I find Cabela's overpriced for the most part. I've been down to Cabela's 2 times since they opened in Dundee and both times I spend over $200 each trip.

I have been down to the one in dundee also. It takes all my will power not to drop a entire pay check there. I also have a gander mountain about 10min from the house prices don't differ that much but the drive is definitely shorter. It also depends what your buying if it is gun stuff cabalas has Way more stuff to look at, however I recommend midway from just about anything for a firearm. You can find them at www.midwayusa.com.

I've driven past Jays in Clare but never stopped. I don't trust myself too much when firearms are concerned. The last trip to Cabela's my wife asked me why I had a cart full of 9mm, .357 Mag and .40S&W ammo. I told her backstock, I plan on going to the range alot. :D :D :D

As far as Gander is concerned, there is one in Saginaw, MI. They have the best selection of fishing stuff IMO. What I think is great is they offer a ton of jig building stuff in bulk. It is the only place I know that has that. I mean, their jig building selection is bigger than most places fishing department. Also, their prices are good on the majority of their stuff.

Now, when it comes to guns, Jay's is great. I only live about 10 miles from jays, and end up there about once a month. They have a huge selection on everything out doors, but they are a little pricey. Not bad, just if you snoop around you can usually find a better deal. Except for their gun selection. For some reason, their gun department always has the best price, and more than likely they have it in stock. I got the best deal on my Desert Eagle .44 over the counter there, versus all the people locally that were cutting me a "deal"

Rob - whatever handgun you wanted, they probably have it on the shelf.

You know Dave, I should have checked there when I was looking for my Smith SW99. None of the shops here stocked it so I had to wait for the gun & knife show to come to town and bought one from Randy's out of Bad Axe. They deal, got it for $475 OTD with one box of FMJ and one box of Hydra Shock 40 cal.

I go to Gander Mountain. I like it, prices are decent and selection is the best compared to anything around here. There is no Cabellas or Bass Pro Shop around here. The only thing around here is Walmart, Dicks or your local gun/hunting store. So I dont have much to compare to, but I do like it.

Jay's is a bit pricey but if you want it they got it. And as for firearms there selection is HUGE!!!!! I have to stop there every time i'm in the area. :inlove:

 Gander mountain is great. I live west of mineapolis and have been to many of them, have also been to Cabela's in Owatonna, it is much pricier, its sort of a tourist trap.

I have spent a many good buck at Gander Mountain, enjoy!!

I live in Canada, but regularily make the trip to Gander in Port Huron. Been to Cabelas in Dundee once, and my walet still cries when I think of going back :(

Gander is a good store, but not as big as Cabelas, but good prices and good selection of fishing gear. And the other good thing, is every time I cross the border and say I'm going to Gander, I have a nice little chat about fishing or hunting with the customs guy, and get sent on my way. If I don't say Gander, we always get a hard time.

I would like to spend my money in Canada if I could, but there is just no place with the selection like there is in the USA.

I'll throw in another vote for Gander Mt. I've been to several of them all (Bass Pro, Cabelas, Gander, etc.) Like someone else mentioned, the Bass Pro's and especially Cabelas' seem to be more touristy (and bigger). They're all great but the Ganders I shop at usually are a little cheaper.
Gander's building a new super store just north of the Twin Cities in Forest Lake (not far from the Hay Days track). I can't wait!

Well, made my first trip to Gander Mountain yesterday, and certainly won't be the last. It was more of an exploratory trip, couldn't believe the selection of merchandise compared to the other local sporting goods stores (Galyans, Dicks). Didn't spend as much time in there as I would of liked (had wife and daughter w/me) . That is probably a good thing, could have spent a paycheck in an instant. Also had a large selection of Cat ATV's on the floor, probably more than most area dealers, but no sleds :p Nice store

This one did, sales and service. Had about a dozen or more models on the floor, accessories, helmets, etc. It was a Grand Opening, looked like some Cat Reps. the day I was there.

P.S.- Corey thanks for the fix :)
