: Canadian Bargin Beer
blackcat 06-16-2003, 06:18 AM I drink nothing but bargin beer. I was buying 'Lucky" (by Molson I think) for $23.70 for a 24. That's about $8 cheaper than "Coors Light". Think of the savings.
For all you guys that pay $32 per case of beer, start buying bargin beer at $24 per case and put the $8 that you save in a winter savings account. At $8 multiplied by 52 weeks (that's 1 case a week) that's a $416 savings over a year. That can pay for my insurance for my sled in a year or pay for a trail pass and money left over for gas through the winter. Now if your like me 1 case a week is a tease.
Any input???
Downriver Thunder 06-16-2003, 07:00 AM I don't drink so all the money goes into the winter fund. :D :p :D
jacqui583 06-16-2003, 07:17 AM I've started making my own at the local brew-it-yourself place. It costs about $130 including the cans for about 5 1/2 cases. That's about $23 a case of cans.
The advantage (besides the price) is that there's no preservatives in it, and I find I'm less likely to have a hangover from it than from other beers.
The disadvantage is that because it has no preservatives it has to be refrigerated so you have to have a beer fridge to hold the 5 1/2 cases. I can pack most of mine into a mini-fridge. That's the beauty of cans; they stack easily and take up less space. Also I don't have to worry about broken glass by the pool!
alscool 06-16-2003, 07:28 AM I drink the bargain beer. I started when the Labbatt Extra Dry was $24. When it went up, I quit drinking it. Now, like Blackcat, I buy the Lucky Lagar. Suprisingly good beer :D
blackcat 06-16-2003, 07:44 AM Right On Alsccol. The beer still has to taste OK. If I don't like the cheapest, I move up to the next cheapest.
paul yarek 06-16-2003, 07:50 AM i buy about three or four cases of beer in a year and the cheapest i buy is coors light, from there it's moosehead or sleemans.
97cougar 06-16-2003, 08:17 AM I drink labbatts bleu,molson ice moosehead,but my favorite is still Black and Tan's
Guiness and Bass.As you can see my habit is expensive. But hay I work for it.i treat my beer like food.when i go out to eat I don't look for the cheapest on the menu.I look for what i feel like eating regardless of price.Same as drinking i will drink different beer every night of the week if thats what my taste buds want!!
I LOVE BEER!! :p :p
I also like Jim beam( but Now that I'am getting older i don't drink the hard stuff as much)
i also dont drink, i take that drinking money and give my ride a few more drinks so i can go a few more rides on the trial.
rob7374 06-16-2003, 09:53 AM well since I'm not a big beer drinker i really dont bother much with looking at the prices. 2-3 cases a year is not gonna matter much to me. When I do buy i usually buy a brand that I know most people at the party i'm going to don't like. That way no one steals my beer. I usually buy Molson's Standard.
Pilsner - $26.00 / 12pack

That's an expensive 12 pack Zog. I'd be brewing my own.
Pil is much cheaper in Alberta...$29/24 pack. Sometimes I find it in my beer fridge. Not sure how it gets there. Must be a beer elf.
FishHog 06-16-2003, 03:31 PM I take all the money I save, from not smoking.......
And spend it all on good beer. But my favourite beer is Carling Ice, and its cheaper than normal beer anyway.

NorthernDealerMan 06-16-2003, 04:05 PM Zog, a beer elf? I wish we had some of those in Ontario.
All I seem to see here is thirsty beer thieves....... :sly:
You can get a 24 of pepsi for like 8$ depending on the store. Thats a good deal :D
paul yarek 06-16-2003, 09:15 PM i can't wait to have a beer with fishie, even a cheap beer. once again i have about 3-4 beers a month. 1 drink a month and 2-3 glasses of wine in that same time.
CORY9 06-16-2003, 09:56 PM Bought 12 Carling Black Label this weekend for $13.20. It's drinkable :D

I didn't know they still made that stuff!
Tempest 06-17-2003, 05:20 AM In the summer I get my beer made at the U-Brew in Lindsay. It's $80.00 a batch and it makes 6 cases of 24. I bring in my own plastic bottles and bottle it myself, the place is not pretty but the beer is excellent. It does not have the shelf life store bought beer has, but in the summer it goes too fast to go bad.
We also make our own wine at a different place, it is very good! With the nice labelling, hot sealing over the corks, the bottles look great and it costs $3.00 a bottle.
