I just recently bought a Goodwin Blue secondary spring for the formula style driven. I have never used anything but the beige, but after reading Dynamo Joes comments on springs with a higher compressed rate I decided to try this one.

Does anyone have any suggestions for pull off poundage as compared to the beige. I typically run between 18-20 pounds pull off on my HO's. This in not an average of pull off and release just the value on the scale when the clutch starts to spread. Do you run more, less or the same pull off with these springs?

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks

If I understand Joe's logic here, the reason you would want to make this move is to increase side pressure on the sheaves. The Beige spring and the GP Blue is very similar "Torsionaly" (twisting), but the side pressure on the blue is about 8-10 lbs stiffer when fully compressed. What this means is that the spring will put more pressure on the sheaves the more the spring is compressed, when compared to the beige.

So, if you run the beige at 20 lbs, then the GP Blue at 20 lbs. what you should see is an increase in RPM as the sled shifts out. The farther it shifts out, the more the increase in RPM. The only way it should go the other way is if you had belt slip with the beige. This will usually constitue a helix change once dialed in.

as the spring compresses it also twists, now what? ???
