I run a mach 1 with 38mm punched out to 39.5mm, and U.F.O.s . The sled runs really strong with this set up, but is very sensitive to temp. + pressure changes. In Canada it changes daily, so i'm jetting constantly. I'm curiuos if a dial-a-jet system would be a benefit, due to the fact it delivers fuel as needed thru-out the whole fuel range. I do have some motor mods done, and it doesn't perform without the jetting dialed.

are you piped? tempa flow and attac are automatic jet adjusters.

Stock pipes with a MBRP can. I was looking at tempa-flows system, but liked the idea of adding more power. There is no such thing as to much power! The dial-a-jet system claims to add 3-5 h.p. due to the atomized fuel being delivered and yet still able to compansate for temp. changes.I'll have to get either one, jetting everyday without a potential trophy is becoming a pain in the a$$.

well i would say if yur drag racing, jetting to conditions would be more benefical
tempa flows work awesome for jetting if your not serious about every available hp you have at a given tamp

dial a jet will not increase your hp. the right jetting is what actually increases the hp.

did you get the can for the weight savings?

Thats all I bought it for.Theres little to no hp. gain with this can, that you can feel anyway.

MOTOR'N, I also have a Mach 1, a 1997. Seems like I have done some of the same mods as you have, I've played with the UFO's on my stock 38mm carbs and agree that once jetted and dialed in, the Mach ran awesome with extremely quick throttle response, but was like you say, sensitive to temp and humidity changes, and I also had very lousy fuel mileage (even after drilling the 5/16" holes in center of UFO disks). I have the Variflow, which I must say does work well for trail riding (I also have a Digitron for my EGT's), but didn't work well for drags or compensation of the UFO's like I thought, as you must be running the sled constantly for the Variflow to compensate the float bowl pressure. I either recommend to jet the sled for the days conditions if you want to continue using the UFO's or do like I do, remove the UFO's, jet for the days conditions when drag racing, or jet rich and use my variflow for different conditions when trail riding and lake running. My engine is trail ported and the heads are shaved, but I have gone back to the stock pipes with a MBRP can after selling my Jaws trail pipes to reduce engine rpm as it was too hard on crankshaft. You mention no difference in power from stock muffler to MBRP can, but I dynoed the difference between the two on my buddies' Land & Sea dyno and gained 5h.p. and almost 3 ft.-lbs. of torque with the MBRP can and it happened much quicker than with stock muffler. Anyways, these were my results with a similar sled.
Hope this helps !

Thanks Limskii,I like the performance gain with the UFO's so I doubt I'd remove them. I'm definitly looking into a temp. compinsater, but I'm not sure which one to go with yet. As far as the can,it was hard to feel any power difference with my sled. It was easier to put the sled on a diet then me.Dropping 13lbs. of weight off the sled is almost a h.p. gain in itself in my opinion. Did you drill out your needle jet when you ran UFO's ? This will help your fuel mileage. Thanks for the feed back.
I had the same problem on my Formula 111 I had the UFO in the 38mm they had good throtle responce, but the jetting was very touchy. And had very bad gas mileage. I bought a set of carbs off a 95 mach Z got got them bored and Crank shop to 40mm. I shortened them up with the shafts and spacers from a 2000 Mach 1. IF you think you had throtle responce before with the 38 and 39.5 it does not even compair. I ran that with an open air box ( the shelf taken out ). Limski what main jets did you run with the Jaws pipes. I'm runing 430 straight across

I read an article in snow-tech about air box mods, saying taking out the air horns or removing the shelf my actually hurt performance.Apparently some air restriction is a good thing. Now does this principle still apply to modified motors? I figuered the more air + fuel the more power. Any ideas?

air horns are designed for a stock motor. if its stock keep them if its not ditch them.

I read that too. I think it does still apply to modified engines. But when the air boxes come from the manufacturer they are not always opened up to their max point so it says drill holes untill your satisfied it is opened up egough. NAd if u have drilled too many cover then with tin foil tape.

Maybe drilling hole's work's on some sled's but when I drilled my airbox on my 98 Mach 1 and slipped some of those little 1" uni-filters in you could notice a drop in performance.Just my experience and may not apply to all.
