just wondering if any out there have gone through or is going through the same problem that we r. I am involved with a Pro Stock Racing team, oval paved track. in this area as of the past 2 yrs expecially there r a few drivers gettign away with using traction control. The site of the current device which they r using is www.moretraction.com. Our team is one of the top teams in our area and i can honestly say that we have never used it, and never will. We r trying to get our local track to inforce the no traction control rule but they seem to be ignoring that there is nobody using such a thing. Just wondering if any fellow racers out there have the same sort of problem at there local track or has gone through this problem. We do very well at beatting these guys or at least staying on there @$$ but its just a but hard to take second when u know the 1st place guy was running elegal and the track is ignoring the fact that they r.
whats your thoughts?

dawg,
i went to moretraction.com and looked at the prices for that stuff. some of those fellows must really want to win if they're spending that much money. how much is the purse if you win ?

Tell the track you want a protest rule setup for tires. SOmething where if you wanted to protest, you would have to come up with some $$ to "buy" their tires. If their tires are stock, they would have no reason to sell the tires.

Once everyone starts to discuss it, you will know who is doping their tires, as they will be against it.

nobody is messing with tires, because the track keeps everyones tires in lockdown till race time, its the traction divices that is the concern.

Paul, the payout like most local racing is crap but the guys with the big sponsors dont seem to care what the price is, they will pay for it if they can win and get good publicity.

dawg,
is it a ruling where the traction control is in a grey area ? i know myself in situations like that i kept my mouth shut because in the past nothing was resolved when the topic was challenged. then i went on and used the illegal set up myself, after taking the time and spending the money it was ruled illegal. that's what really makes me mad.

paul, thats exactly what we was discussing yesturday with the team. we could go and buy it, but with our luck next year the situation would be delt with. But when it comes right down to it, i dont think our driver would us it. he really hates the fact that others ar using it, but he really seems to like the challange of racing with them. when we do beat them or finnish real close makes us and the team feal that much better about what we accomplished.

Paul, i am just wondering when and what were u racing when u experienced this same situation. And what rules were placed and how did the officials make sure that there was nobody runing TCS.

We had the same problem last year. That turned out to be parts washer fluid on the tires. Sold as tire conditioner not softner. Track addressed the problem by letting us run Meds. instead of hards. this was on dirt though. As far as TCS. Tracks here are awhere of them, but the system that is activated by cell phone is very hard to detect. Keep an eye on crew members to see if they use a phone at the start or during a race. Also right after the car takes the checker. There is a box hooked to distributor some where .

I've had a few years experiance with Mods on dirt tracks Dawg and I would say start protesting the track not so much as the driver anymore. Why is the track showing some favoritism to those using it. Is the offending driver a local favorite to win all the time ? Get a few drivers together and protest to the track big wigs. Tell them you will be boycotting the track and you will be telling every other racer out there about them and they will start boycotting. I know racin' is all about how you interpret the rules and it's not cheating unless you get caught but this just sounds stupid. I know we have banded together a few times and had a friendly chat with offending racers. Never accused them of anything just made our point known that some people are cheating and what generally happens to cheaters is they will get get spun out every chance we can to do it or something of the like. Usually by the next week the offending team is running a legit car. This takes more than one team though. usually if you get at least 3-4 teams together the intimidation factor works. It's a little dirty maybe but they started it.

so we r not alone on what is happening at our track. One o fthe problems we have is guys coming from other circuits that used to race at our track a few yrs ago. they have a big fan base and of course about 90% of all fans have no idea about what goes on behind the scenes. So we know why the track officials/owners let these guys come in with there TCS, and thats because they draw crowds. and we all know that means $'s. well the few local guys at our track that are running TCS ussually is only in the big Invitational events which means big purses. And i know why they use them, because they want a chance at winning the big $'s and if they dont run TCS then they have not much of a chance. We here of rumurs that that the tracks in our area and our local pro stock cirtcuit is trying to implace a system that will eliminate this but it just hasnt happened yet and our track officials still deniy the fact that its going on at out local track. I guess we will just have to wait and see what happens, and i hope the wait is not to long.

yes it happens, good luck stopping it.setting on fast time at eldora speedway with only one car to go,car going out non-other than j.j yeley himself car looks good but all of a sudden you hear the motor stumble.I jumped and said hell yes, we got it,fast time.but then they anounce his time .02 of a second faster.with the motor stumbling,I don't think its so.then it hit me traction control, but no proof ??? .one thing to remember guys using it are not racers ,if they have to have a computer to keep them from spinning their tires.I have to say what rob is saying I would be willing to do.only I would not confront them till I spun them though :)
