I have 2003 800 Rev 7c and just noticed the rings are flaking. My compression is at a respectable 147/148. But, I am looking to replace my stock rings with new ski doo chrome rings. Does someone know where I can find them? I had my dealer call ski doo, and they said you can only get them from their racing dept., which doesn't come back to work until Aug 5th.

I don't want to wait, if anyone has them in stock, let me/us know. :nervous:

I think your dealer is mistaken. I just got pistons and rings on warranty and what I got is the pistons and rings for the 04's which have the chrome rings.

Snuka,

See what your dealer can find with part #420 815 218 (revised 07-30-03). This is supposed to be the new '04 ring. I have not heard confirmation that this is the same ring as provided through the race dept last year. Depending on mileage you may want to switch the pistons at the same time. Piston to cylinder clearances have been an issue with these Series 3 800's since their release. Maybe Dunittoo can provide the '04 piston or piston kit part number(s).

3 years same problem, why would Skidoo fix it now?
Just like the 700 triple, it took Doo 3 years to make it right then they discontinued it!
I have owned Skidoo for 10 years and have had it with there #### poor way of fixing a known problem. It is just a lack of respect for there customers.
To bad they dont go out of business they deserve every bit of it! :cussing:

Have had all manufacturers, and they all have their problems. Still a Doo fan.

What I saw on my rings was an inconsistent coloration, the flake actually looked like a flake and it wasn't real small. The metal where the flaking took place actually looks like it has the ability to rust.

I took my cylinders off to port and polish, I am not sure if you can see the flaking through the cylinders or the R.A.V.E. I have read that you should be able to.

Thanks for the info dunittoo, I will talk to my dealer to see what information and warranty I too can get.

It is July 28th, and I feel I have sooo much to doo and so little time before the snow starts to fall.

If every company were to go out of business because of problems with engine parts, brakes frames what ever. Then we would not have a snowmobile manufacture left. they all screw up and they all have issues, see the recall forum it is not just ski-doo and at the very least they are calling them back.
which is more them some manufactures doo.
