When was the last production year for the ZR 440?
When was the last production year for the ZL 440?

What kind of HP and top speed did this stock power plant see apporximately?

My brother had a 1998 ZR440. It was ported with bored carbs, and geared down a little bit, but it would do 93mph on glare ice.

I think 98 or 99. That little ZL 440 was a nice sled. I had a chance to ride one and so did my kids. It's something that I would of been interested in for a family cruiser.

The last year of the ZL 440 was 2000 and they were making a ZR440 in 2002. In 2003 they made a snow pro 440 which falls in the ZR 440 class.

Last year for a consumer version of the ZR 440 was 98 (the only ZR 440 in the ZR2 chassis)it had a nonpower valve case reed 440 which served as the base of the 500-600 zr engines

I think it was rated around 65 hp. All reports say it was a bullet proof motor.

:p Zr-440 has more ponies than the ZL and the only production release year for zr-440 was 1997 same as the race sled in 1998 the zr440 was like the 500 and 600 for consumers and like the 1997 body for racers. SWRules

So the 98 consumer zr 440 was the "grasshopper" style? Was it green?

Freezer you missed one year! 1993 but then again the 93 was not a production sled. It was for racers only and I the HP was 68. Mine is still stock with only clutch mods and runs very well for a sled with over 5000 miles on origanal engine.

The newer ZR's weren't just in a higher state of tune. I believe the ZL440 used the old prowler motor all the way up until it's demise, while the newer ZR440 motors were a completely new design.
