I sold my 1980 trailcat to a friend of mine because I am buying a newer sled.

After riding it for the whole season last year, I have come to the realization that the 3 piece track that comes with that sled SUCKS!!!! Is there anywhere that I can find a 1 piece that will fit that sled for a reasonable price. Or better yet, can anyone think of a make and model # for a track that would fit.

If we can't find a track that will just slip right on then we are going to have to do some serious modifications to get a track from some other sled to fit because that 3 piece has pretty much seen it's last ride.

any help is much appreciated.

What are the dimensions of the track. I'm pretty sure they used the standard 121"x15" and if that's the case you can run any track that size(most sleds have this size). I just wouldn't go slapping a 2" lug on it since it probably wouldn't have the clearance for it.

From what I have been able to find it uses a 116" x 15" 2.52 drivepitch track. That is according to online sources, mailorder parts and whatnot. The guy at the local Cat dealer said it is a 112" track though, so I am not 100% sure :(

How can I measure it quickly to find out for sure?

Count the number of lugs inside the track...if its a 2.52 pitch just multiply. 48x2.52=121" long. 54x2.52=136" etc.... assuming it has a 2.52 pitch.

I'll give that a try, thanks.

I have a few parts catalog at home and will try to check out tonight what was the original setup for your model.

Well it just so happens that when I worked for A/C I had a 1980 Trail Cat for a demo in 1979. I also dug out the Service Manual (#0153-332) and both the 4000 and 3000 T/Cats had a 116" by 15" track. Arctic has used the 2.52 pitch for quite a few years so its a good bet thats what the pitch is.

hmmm... anyone know of any older sleds that would have used the same size track ? ... he doesn't want to spend too much into the sled and we are hoping to find a used track that we can put on it.

A track off a leaf spring pre 91 Jag or Panther would most likely fit :sly:

Lots of those around for parts
