Has anyone used the plastic backers with the nut molded in?

My buddy did and went back to square aluminum.

I have several bags of those UltraLites that I will never use again. It's a good idea but doesn't work well. They are supposedly self tapping, but yet it takes forever to get it to finally thread, then you can't put squat for tension on it or it will strip. They say you don't need loctite, but I used some anyway and STILL lost about half of them in the first ride. If you want plastic backers just use the regular plastic backer and a regular nut!
That said, anyone want to buy a bunch of UltraLite backers??LOL

I'm using them with pretty good luck. I know others are having some trouble. There is a knack to installing them. I use one of the small butterfly type air impacts with air pressure set correctly. You do need to push kind of hard to get them started, and you can strip them by overheating or over torque. Obviously those don't hold too well. Properly installed, they go the distance, and look great.

I used a small butterfly to install them as well, but still had problems. They do look good and it's a great idea, but they need to come up with a better/stronger way to screw them in. They should come up with a way to get actual metal threads inside the plastic or something.
Glad they're working for ya michahicks. I've got several purple ones left(over 100 new)if you ever need spares. ;)
