User Conflict Tracking Project

Report conflicts between motorized and non-motorized recreation users on public land. Snowlands will forward your report on to the responsible agency. We will also add your report to our growing database, which we will use to document user conflicts and bring about better regulations that will reduce conflicts in the future.

The US Forest Service is under intense pressure from nationally organized motorized user groups to provide additional parking, snowmobile trails, and other facilities to meet their increasing needs. Considering the national political climate and the mounting trend toward “motorization” of outdoor recreation, these lobbying efforts appear to be almost unstoppable.

If you are a low-impact winter recreationist, you already know that snowmobile use has been increasing dramatically and you are probably not happy with how this trend has affected your own winter experiences.

Snowlands Network will make it easy for you to report each and every instance of user conflict to the USFS using an on-line form or an Incident Reporting Form available from this website. If enough comments are generated, the USFS will have no option except to “fix the problem.”

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Incident Reporting Forms
You may submit a report to the Snowlands Network using our on-line reporting page. We will put the information you give us in a letter to the appropriate agency.

You may instead download a copy of the Incident Reporting Form to your computer and view or print the form using Adobe Acrobat Reader. Send the filled-out form to us and we will forward it on to the appropriate agency. If you send in the form directly, please send us a copy, too.

Winter Motor Vehicle Conflict and Trespass
When it comes to winter recreation, Nordic skiers, snowshoers and children must compete with snowmobiles. With each additional machine, the experience for non-motorized users is degraded just that much more.

The USFS knows these problems exist, but has avoided taking remedial action for fear of facing “backlash” from powerful motorized user groups. The purpose of this User Conflict Tracking Project is to provide the USFS with the public support and documentation necessary for them to stand up to the snowmobile community and to do their legally required duty.

Help Preserve Opportunities for Primitive,
Non-Motorized, Winter Experiences
Report excessive noise, impacts to wildlife, damage to public property, safety concerns or motorized trespass into areas designated as Wilderness or closed to motorized vehicles. If your recreation experience was adversely impacted, that is “user conflict.” You need not be run over! You need not have even seen a snowmobile. Damage to Nordic-trails or finding snowmobile tracks in the Wilderness can be conflict.

Fill Out One Incident Reporting Form For Each Instance
Situations which promote “user conflict” must be resolved in favor of the lower impact user group. That’s the law! But for the USFS the problem “doesn’t exist” until they hear from you. Your participation is absolutely required. Fill out one Incident Reporting Form for each instance. Please Help!!!

:cussing: Don't you just love how they only care about how they want to use the forests not in creating better ways for all of us to use the natural resources we all help fund.As for children my daughter rides with me I suppose from their point of view she should not be able to see the forests till she is large enough to ski or snowshoe. Can't we all just get along? The money and time spent on all this lobbying could deffinatly fund the construction of additional trails for those on both sides of the issue. Yeah they sure like using the trails that we get groomed also  #######s
I gave a ride to this guy (Skier) up Mnt Kearsarge in warner, NH this past winter. They Cross country ski up then come flying down the road. It's my fault though that I am coming up the trail  This is a trail about I'd say 3-5 miles long up a moutain Road that is used during the winter for Sledders and Skier's.

there is only one way for us sledders to get away with this. now you might think i am nuts for how i know we can beat this. the reason we have to use unreal tactics is because you cannot reason with unreasonable people and their selfish demands. they lie when they publicize what they do and we all know from what we read, we all know it. some of what is true has been embellished till it seems far fetched.

the only way we can get these greeny people to leave us alone is if we crossdress and/or say we are gay. see gay people have been running canada for the past few years with their wants and demands. they even have the canadian government scrubbing pages out of the bible. so i think we are going to have to call ourselves a gay sledding community and we won't be bothered.

who's in ? LOL

That is straigh BS. Really, what kind of group would do that. They are all a$$holes. We have our fun, they have theres, we should make it that if they come on our trails they should have a trail pass to go skiing, snowshoeing, etc. And if they don't they are off, and FINED just like sleds that don't have passes. Screw them, we can be mean according to the letter, lets show it, cause the is goin to far.

hey paul, well said man. i see it that same way. what is up with these gays trying to run our country. I am tired of it. Was In New Hampshire this weekend and i love the states, but still prefer to live in Canada. Just a preference guys. At least the USA still has some morals and r standing for what they have always believe. Its a shame that Canada is no longer considered a christian country. I am proud to be Canadian but this un called for.

Oh yeh, about becoming a gay sledding community. count me out on that one....... :cussing:

I was told that a prerequisite is that you have to be clean and neat. Well, I am neither, but who is going to know, you can count me in! ;)

better yet we should all fill out a incident reporting form and just state positive feedback and basically squash their letter writing campain. that way it would backfire on them
