I am putting a new helix in my secondary, and I decided to change the buttons while I am at it. The old buttons were pressed in, the new ones are distinctly smaller in diameter and are very loose (about .010 - .015 smaller). Should these have some kind of adhesive to hold them in place, or will the spring pressure alone do it? I am wondering that if I assemble the clutch with them loose, that they will wear funny. Anybody got an answer?

Any buttons I have ever replaced have needed to be tapped in firmly. I would double check to see if they are the right part number.

I got them with a clutch kit from SLP. I was going to assemble the thing tomorrow, but maybe I will call them first.

Anyone else have any comments? I could use the help. thanx

What make of sled is it? The 'doo buttons have a few serrations to help create an interference fit when installing them.

They are for a 95 Indy 500. As far as I can tell from their catalog, SLP only sells buttons for Polaris clutches.
