Looking into rebuilding the top end of the Mach, and want to know if OEM pistons are fine or if I should spend the money for performance aftermarket ones? Crank has been rebuilt, Jaws pipes, clutched, max rpm around 8900, thicker base gasket with domes, 410 mains, gutted air box.

I know something is wrong with the middle piston because it's all pitted and the spark plug came out all covered in what I believe to be bits of the top of the piston. Not a good look for a spark plug. ???

For the 809, the best thing you could do is get a set of OEM Elko pistons for the newer (2002 - 2003) 809s. They are Moly coated and are very high quality. You can also upgrade to the cageless pin bearings also.

My 01 Tech Plus has the moly coated pistons too.

Thanks guys, any idea of price for all three, with rings and bearings? I'm thinking it will be around $500 cdn.
