Anyone here been to this auction? I remember SledDog talking about auctions; is this the one you go to? We are thinking about checking one out, and I'm wondering if it's best to go to the first one of the season (for best selection) or if it's good every month.

Hello,
I have taken couple of sleds of my bosses down and he has been real happy with what he made on them. He always has me take them down in October from what I hear that is the best one, but it's the only one I have been too.

Good Luck
Mark

I bought my last two sleds at the auction. The best ones to go to for buyers would be early Summer. Sellers, I would suspect the highest prices would come in late Fall. They are starting two a month in the Fall only this year.

They have a web site with past price reports, etc. I'm sure you can find it by doing a search.

Have been quite a few times. Agree, the next few sales there should be some good deals, if you can find what you are looking for. The number of sleds available then won't even start to compare with what is avilable in the Oct-Dec. sales. There could be a thousand sleds there for one of those. The extra money spent then is sometimes justified by the extra numbers available to shop from.

White Star Snowmobile Auction (http://www.snowmobileauction.com)

I would say Dec is the most fierce auction. Last year snow was falling and man did some sleds move. Buyers need to go in the off season for the best deals on all models. During the winter months nov-jan the older sleds%yrs & older seem to stay pretty consistant in prices but the new models go cheap. Check out all the price reports and you'll get a great idea of what sleds sell for. We got burned only once and it's my brothers dumb ### fault for not bidding on a sled sooner rather than waiting till late in the day when everyone wanted to go home with a sled. He bid and wona sled that looked good upo on the cart as they wheeled it it but since he broke the cardnial rule(never bid on a sled if you didn't inspect it) he paid the price. Had to buy new front shocks as they were blown and so=me cheap front steering parts. Stator blew in feb(no way of knowing), andf the secondary is loose(all five bolts) and bolt holes reamed out. That was in dec. We went back in Jan and bought a 94 puma deluxe for $1,000 with plastic ski skins and 4" carbides( what a fun sled to beat on after we installed hd torsion springs) and a 84 phazer $for 525. We couldn't get the phazer carbs sorted out from fouling so we parted it out and tripled the money. It was in mint shape other wise and ran great till it fouled a plug.

I recomend you know what to look for in every sled you look at. We took print offs of old auction reports. A compression gauge is also a smart idea. Sleds tend to be fouled out by later in the morning or afternnoon from everyone startng them and shutting them off or choking them. so extra plugs are a smart thing also.

New sleds sell dirt cheap, it's unreal. Good luck to all.

AS EVERYONE HAS SAID THE AUCTION IS A GREAT PLACE TO FIND REALLY GOOD DEALS. USUALLY GO FOR LESS THERE THEN ON EBAY! PLUS I THINK IT HAS PRO'S COMPARED TO EBAY FOR BUYING AS IN THE FACT THAT YOU CAN PHYSICALLY CHECK OUT THE SLED AND EVEN START EM UP AND ALSO DO COMPRESSION CHECKS ON THEM. ALL BEFORE PLACING YOUR BID BUT IF YOU ARE GOING TO BUY ONE THE PRICE'S GO UP EACH MONTH THE CLOSER YOU GET TO SNOW. SELLING I WOULD WAIT UNTIL THE SNOW FALLS FOR THE FIRST TIME...
