Just wondering what the best jet size would be to give me the best performance. ITs a '89 MX 462 with 38MM carbs. Thanks.

THe sled has a low end bog when you hit fresh snow so would i want to go up or down in main jet sizes without losing too much top speed??

Sounds to me like it could be more of a clutching problem. Not backshifting. Have you cleaned the clutches? Checked springs, buttons, bushings?

Do you have this 'bog' when you take off from a dead stop? Is the bog there if you are rolling along, no matter what the surface is, and hit the gas?

If i take off WOT yes it does have a bog. When i get going then it seems okay once i hit maybe 60km/h and then pin it. That is on flat surface. If i'm at a constant RPM then it dosnt have a bog its when you give it WOT from a slower speed :(

I havnt done anything to the clutches, i dont know how. Is it hard? What do i have to do? :)

Sounds like a lean bog. You have two choices, you can either put in bigger pilot jets or you can adjust your air screws on your carbs. I believe the screws on that animal are air screws. Turn them in if they are air or turn them out if they are fuel screws. Turn them a 1/2 turn at a time and check your throttle response. Air is lighter than fuel so when you hit the hammer the air gets their first creating the hesitation, thus requiring more fuel.

The pilot jets are the jets i can get to from the bottom of the float bowl by opening the drain plug rite?? IF i change them how many sizes bigger would you suggest I try?

I'll give the air screws a shot!

NOPE !! the jets that you are talking about are the main jets. The pilots are the ones up in the tube that you cant see, if the carbs are the tm's that i think they are. Only go up one size if you change them, but i would try the air screws first. You should have plenty of adjustment left to fix your low end bog.

the main jet size should be 220's on the pto side, and 240's on the mag side. needle jet should be a P-4 (159), and the pilot jet should be a 40. if that makes ne snese.
