The debate...does the secondary clutch that comes with RER perform better or worse than the Formula secondary going in the forwards direction ;)
Don't forget to state why...this IS a discussion board after all ;)

i have both clutchs and have done enough testing. i find that the rer is much better performing.

I have struggled with the RER secondary. (or so I thought) It may be I was fighting other factors. I won't know until we get on some snow this winter and do some more testing. I believe the RER is more reactive and probably more efficient if set up properly. But like I said, I will know much more after this season.

i have found tah the stock set up works well i just play with the primary now cause i could not find any gains with other set ups. the big thing here is the spring must and i say must be good i keep a spare. if they lose an 1/8th of inch then your loosing h.p.

Machz69,
What are you running? and what year and mods do you have??

I know MXZWFO was attempting to find a secondary spring that would apply some torsional twist in the RER, as he was having some issues with "unwinding" the clutch during acceleration. It was actually pulling the buttons off of the cam.

i am running a 2000 machz rer with a cudney shim kit and a B&B can. now just with this small mods i have beaten some very big h.p. sleds. 800 mxz i know that i was trying the same thing last year but come to find that my secondary spring was done and also my primary had a bushing done and a bunch of other things. but the secondary spring you really have to keep a close eye on. after one winter of running the secondary spring had lost 1 1/4 inch in length. what happens is that is a gradual decrease in performance i found myself saying man the sled is just not same anymore? everyone around me was saying its all in your head but i know my machine...lol... i can tell when she has a little cold.....haha. but it is something to keep in mind

I have never owned a RER sled, just trying to imply the experience I saw with MXZWFOs sled when he was trying to tune it in.

I like the rer, the shift curve just feels better. The TEAM roller, set up for RER is even better.

I kinda like the rer secondary. At first I really liked it, then after much testing I was gettin pretty annoyed with it due to rpm hunting and rpm loss in some types of terrain...
Now I really like the secondary again after troubleshooting it to figure out how to get rid of the rpms wavering...etc. Since getting a few helix's made the problems I found seemed to clean right up with a stock black secondary spring. Our 800 mule acts like there is a torsion spring is installed.
I really like the massive bushing area on the cam and the clips that hold the secondary together are kinda neato.
...i don't mind the brake-effect "feature"...HAHAHA..."feature" lol
When I don't want that feature, I just leave slight tension on the throttle and the sled coasts nicely.

Machz69,
I am replacing my drive and driven springs in my 01 Tech Plus with RER. What should I buy?? I am also adding the adj. pin kit to the drive clutch.
Thanks
