Starting to do some trip planning :) I'm looking at heading to northern Wisconsin with another couple. I'm looking for suggestions on where and what type of 2-up sleds to rent.

We'd either stay in the Cable/Hayward area or St. Germain/Eagle River area.

Thanks

The Lakewoods Resort is an excellent place to stay near the Cable Area.

As for renting 2-ups, most of them are good. Since you will be riding 2-up, a 500 liquid or 550 fan is the minimum I would get (assuming you want to go over 55 MPH). Be sure to check how old they are. I prefer to go to places with new ones. A year old might be ok, but these are rentals, better to have newer. I think all of the 2-ups are pretty good except the old Polaris. I would think the new ones on the edge chassis should be good, but the old ones just wanted to go straight - didn't like to turn. The Cat's have a nice ride, but they are on the heavy side. Doo and Yamaha are both nice. You are most likely to run into Polaris and Doo. Provided the engine size is big enough, I would let price be your guide. There can be a wide variance in prices. Be sure to find out the "real" cost. How much is insurance? Call you agent before you go to see if possibly your homeowners would cover any accidents. I doubt it, but I can't remember. I think you do need the insurance, and it can be expensive! Also be aware that this expensive insurance usually comes with a $1000 deductible! Do you need to rent a helmet? Bibs? Boots? Add it all in and don't forget tax.

Hope that helps!

As for where to rent, depending on where you end up you can go online, ask the place your staying, seach on switchboard.com, internet search. Usually a rental place will carry one brand. Most of these areas have multiple rental places. I would call them all.
