I like lots of midrange 60-90 mphs with a good topend, if I was looking for pure topend I'd be on a MACHZ or T-CAT, in top running condition there still the sled for all out high speed running on table top conditions.....

Torque for me for all my toys. When I rebuilt my '71 400 Ford for my '53 F-100, I went for torque. Makes 460 ft/pds max. When it starts to drop off the HP picks up and gets maxed out at 390 HP at around 5500 RPM. But the torque is good from idle all the way through the mid range. Yep, I take torque. I'm not much for speed either........until I get enough money someday to start auto-crossing, then I'll need a car with the HP

trick question? :) I build all my engines for max torque and let hp fall were it may.but I think the question is loaded because hp is a figure of the torque the engine produces, hp=torque x RPM divided by 5252.so what you want is an engine that builds great torque and has a nice rpm range to boot .I like how it was stated here before, torque is the amount of work an engine will do and hp is how many times it will do it.simply put ,but really true.

Im with doo man, even though i prefer the big triples,i build and then clutch for torque.I just wish that you could get everyone to try this (Ie come out for about 7-800 feet at max torque and then use a multiangle helix to let it rpm up to max hp.This is sometimes tricky but the results are usually worth the work. The hardest thing about clutching for torque is when you use enough weight,or helix to keep a low rpm torque motor busy and working hard the backshift can be a little tricky.

both things are good i like doing both disciplines..... cause really that is what they are. anyone can set to drag or speed run but to win is a whole other game....lol
