Two Years ago I called John @ Race Logic and asked him about his porting templates for modifing my Mach Z...I very concerned about porting my cylinders myself and John assured me that the templates were very easy to use and to TAKE MY TIME doing the porting and if I had any questions that he would be there fore me...when I recieved the templates I placed them into the cylinder to be ported and WOW, looks like I had a lot of work to do...the exhaust transfer ports looked like that was going to be the most difficult part to do...I needed to purchase a small right angle die grinder to get into those exhaust transfer ports to do the job...It worked...the main exhaust port was widened quite abit and raised just a little...all in all doing the exhaust ports took about 5 hours and I have to say that I was proud of how they turned out...The next step was to do the intake port side...this required placing the intake port template onto the base of the cylinder skirt on the intake side and doing some major cutting...this took about two hours to do...I was beginning to realize why people that do porting charge what they do for this service...For me to port all three cylinders took about 23 hours, oh but this was a labor of love for sure...I called John if I had to do anything to the Cylinder Head because the exhaust port was raised...he said to mill .010 off and that would really help...Fast forward...on the inital start up of my sled I noticed that the motor would pickup rpm's alot faster...I checked for leaks and everything was ok...I took the sled out for a ride and Holy Cow, what a difference. a really big difference...so I went back to the garage and started my other Mach Z which was totally stock, same year, same everything except for the Race Logic Porting...It was like comparing a 700 triple to a 809 triple...It felt like I picked up another 100CC's...As of to date I have put over 4000 miles on my sled...all trail riding and no problems at all...Would I do it again? In a heart beat! Al.

Thats great, I just ordered a kit for my "01 mxz 700. You can get them on ebay right from race logic for like 69.00. So once you scribe what you need to remove do you take out that thickness all the way through that port? Did you also polish them? Any other mods needed when you do this?

Mudweiser: I personally have not ported a 700 mxz...I know that you have nikasil cylinders as where a 780 Mach Z triple has steel sleaves...The type of cutting stone (ie) carbide or blue stone etc. that you use on opening up the ports makes a big difference...I blended the steel cylinder into the port wall...I would strongly suggest that you call John @ Race Logic before you do any cutting, he's a great guy and will help you on your new endeavor, hope this helps...Al. :)

It sounds like you had a much better experience than I did. Myself and others repeatedly emailed with questions concerning there product last season with absolutely no reply from RaceLogic. I gave them four chances and finally gave up thinking if this is the way they treat their customers, I dont want to be one.

I was told that he had computer problems after this happened and I tried again with no response. I guess its possible he was still having computer problems as it sounds like you are very happy with the service.

Thanks for the reply

H.O. Rider: What motor are you thinking of porting?

I spoke with John from RaceLogic today. Seems like a very good guy.
Told me of his email problems and answered some questions for me.
I guess thats the problem with doing service over the internet, you depend on computers, and thats not always a good thing.

I wouldnt hesitate to do business with him after speaking to him.
