: Gas Prices In Your Area
mike800z 08-23-2003, 08:49 PM i have been keeping an eye on the prices in eastern maine and they are getting ridiculous. some of the gas stations are jumping .10cts. a day. i can just imagine how some of the resort gas prices will be! have the prices been jumping way up in your state?
zrgreen 08-23-2003, 08:58 PM Right now runs from around $1.60 up to about $1.77 per gallon, regular unleaded, up about the same..10 cents per gallon in past week.Prices are higher in urban area, decreases as you go to more rural areas. Hope it comes back down after Labor Day ???
mike800z 08-23-2003, 09:02 PM right now we have on station that super unleaded is 1.91 and i`m sure it will be more by monday morning. i`m with you i hope it drops after labor day
kennypope 08-23-2003, 09:10 PM In Timmins Northern Ontario we are paying 74 cents per liter, whatever that works out too in U.S funds and gallons.
straycat 08-23-2003, 09:27 PM over $1.70 for reg.
and over $1.90 for premium
i was told this is because of the big black out.
i think it's more like another big RIPOFF :cussing:
phat_cat800 08-23-2003, 09:36 PM Our gas prices just went up 6 conts a liter here this week. It is now up to 86.9 cents a liter for regular 87 octane. I sure hope it goes down before the snow flies when I have to run supreme in the sled.

at todays exchange rates that is $2.05 US funds per US gallon.
kennypope 08-24-2003, 01:52 AM thanks for doing the math Paully, I left my metric conv calculater at home.
kennypope 08-24-2003, 01:55 AM Well the Americans can always smile cause they know they will always pay less for fuel than us! :sarcasm:

Think again. I was just talking with my sister about this tonight as I was driving home from the hills past the gas station. She is paying $2.09 in the Seattle area. In my area near Boise it is $1.79 for the cheap stuff and $1.99 for the premium. I've never seen it this high
QUEBEC#1 08-24-2003, 03:35 AM Ok guys get this our goverment said the blackout is the cause of rising fuel cost in quebec last week it was 83 cents per litre and now its 89 and 99 for super per liter in quebec because of the black out in the north east that did not even afect us ! give us a break ! 40 miles north of montreal they are still selling petrole for 78 cents WHATS GOING ON HERE. Ist because so few are complaining that these sO B's think they can get away with murder, ITS TIME WE TAKE A STAND WITH OUR GOVERMENTS WEATHER AMERICAN OR CANADIAN MY PAY IS NOT GOING UP BUT THE (COST OF LIVING IS !) And im sure we are all paying something off these days with mega interest . If SOME OF YOU ARE WITH ME LEST PROTEST BECAUSE I CAN LONGER LIVE LIKE THIS, (LETS MAKE A STAND WITH OUR AMERICAN AND CANADIAN GOVERMENTS AND TAKE IT BACK FOR THE NORMAL WORKING GUY ! ......YOURS  TRULY GARY BASANDA............
Wolfman 08-24-2003, 11:49 AM Yes, the blackout had a major effect. Seven refineries went down with that blackout, and there is no excess capacity due to the environmenalists stopping any new ones from being built. There is also an additional problem in Arizona over a pipeline failure that has that state in a critical situation. You can pretty much gurantee that once that pipeline is reopened, that very large quantities of fuel will be diverted to that area untill all of the fuel stations have been refilled, and the residents there get their cars all filled back up again. There has also been sabotage in Iraq on the oil pipeline there, interrupting all exportation of oil from that country.
Yup,been going up here as well. $1.79 for 87 grade. sux to fill the Burb,42 gallon tank ???
Mikadoo 08-24-2003, 01:27 PM You know what? This happens on a daily basis. They raise gas prices at any little reason they can think of, it is nothing but legalized robbery!
I dont even have to drive to work but it still effects me in raising cost for everything else it takes to live, food being the #1 item to substain life meaning gas goes up, farmer needs gas to run equipment, delivery trucks need gas to deliver food and the cycle goes on.
We could all stay home for a day or two in protest but they would just laugh and raise the price even higher to make up for it. They all know we have bills to pay so this would never happen in the first place.
I think the oil barons want to push us into a depression so they can buy up bankrupt propertys and have a monopoly on land thus starting a new government?
I dont know, that's just my thoughts on it :( Oh yes, gas is $1.75 in Michigan......
last week the prices jumped up too 83.9 per litre. none of u USA guys better not be complaining about your prices. they are still a far cry from what we pay.
Rocketman 08-24-2003, 05:03 PM 81.9 c/L here in Saskatoon...that would be $2.19 USD/gallon for 87 octane :cussing:
XCR583 08-24-2003, 07:27 PM I saw anywhere from $1.58 to 1.69 a gallon around here in Pittsburgh. Another one of the reasons I heard was that the weather finally broke. No rain, people are driving more. Well what happened to all the gas that wasnt being used when it was raining? Just another excuse to rip us all off!!! :cussing:
Sheesh,I was in Waukesha today(close to Milwaukee) and saw the gas there was $1.88 a gallon. The Harley 100th is this next weekend as well as Labor Day,It would not surprise me to see it over 2 bucks very soon. :cussing: :cussing: :cussing:
TallCool1 08-25-2003, 02:06 AM :cussing: $1.75 for regular in St Louis area, dad says it is over $2/gallon near Phoenix due to that pipe from CA rupturing.
Rottie 08-25-2003, 10:19 AM Dont forget that the U.S. gallon is slightly smaller than ours. 1 U.S. Gallon is 3.87 litres and our gallon is 4.54 so take that into consideration..basically were all gettin it up the pipe!!
98 EXT 08-25-2003, 10:34 AM Amazing how gas prices coincide with media stories, or shall we say excuses for bending over the common man. Imagine if all industry fluctuated this much. They know they have us by the balls. :hallo1:
High 1.70's to low 1.80's. in Minneapolis.
Good2Go 08-25-2003, 10:37 AM Gas prices in Orillia/Barrie/Gravenhurst/Coldwater area are 79.9 for regular unleaded, 69.9 for diesel, and 89.9 for premium! I dont want to even ask what Shells race fuel is going for ;)
performancex 08-25-2003, 07:51 PM buck-eighty
just heard that our gas will be going up from 83.9 to 88.9 very soon. thats after a 4 cent raise a week ago. not sure which is a larger rip off, gas or insurance.

Last I heard, part of the price of gas goes for your FREE health care my northern friend! Not so in the good ol'e U.S. of A. :cussing:
Gas just jumped to $1.88 Greedy Bast#@*!
TallCool1 08-25-2003, 09:34 PM One station out by my dad is really screwing people....they only let you buy 10 gallons of gas, and you have to buy a soda for $1.99...what a deal, huh?! :cussing: I'm sure the soda (pop for our northern friends) cost them a whole 35 cents or so.
jim, thats the craziest thing i have ever heard of. only 10 gallons. what a rip. hey thanx for clearing that pop soda thing up for us northerners. LOL, i always get a kick when i go to New Hampshire. i make it a point to ask for pop instead of Soda. some know what u are talking about but others just have no clue.
mx416 08-25-2003, 10:25 PM Gas prices suck. I'm going back to school soon and driving 50 miles a day at 14mpg. This is with working even less too.
If the pop was a 20oz bottle, here in michigan cost is about 70 cents

Out west here, we call it "soda-pop". I guess when all the Easterners flocked west during the 1800's they got even further confused :) On the other hand, most don't "ask" for a "soda-pop" they just say, "I'll take a Dr. Pepper" ;) ;)
snow drift.....nice info. guess i'll just ask for a pepsi
paul yarek 08-25-2003, 11:54 PM a good way to send the economy into a tailspin is to create uncertainty and these fuel prices are causing just that.
2tone800X 08-26-2003, 12:53 AM i didn't see what gas prices were at today here in central/north iowa, but yesterday they were $1.59 for 89 octane, $1.63 for regular 87 and $1.73 for 91 super.

LOL...now that's funny. The only things our fuel prices go for is general taxes, road taxes, and the station makes a 3% profit on average. And we all know how money always goes to the place its earmarked for... :cussing:

when the health people finally decide to admit they have a cure for cancer then the mega system won't need to be so big. :0:
well said guys, we dont know half of the money that has been misused by our government. :cussing:

Paul, I'll second that notion. You and I both know they will never (prob at least not in our lifetime) bring to surface the cure for cancer....too many jobs to be lost in the health industry. What a shame though!!!

jim,
you came right out and said it, just what i was stick handling around. i believe there would be a pile of lost jobs in the higher up areas of the health industry.
mike800z 08-27-2003, 02:28 PM :cussing: besides OPEC putting the screws to us here in maine they like to throw in some added gas tax for road repair and if you live in maine you know how much of a joke that is because i have no doubt we have the worst roads in the country :cussing:
idooski 08-27-2003, 03:34 PM We just hit 2.01 for reg and 2.21 for premium. Glad the Dodge is a diesel. Still 1.41 for diesel...for now.
Rocketman 08-27-2003, 04:08 PM hmm...we just went up to 85.9 cents a litre here...that makes it 2.32 USD for a gallon of 87 octane fuel!! :cussing: :cussing:
mxz800 08-27-2003, 06:58 PM its ok boys the goverment needs the extra gas money to help the insurance companys make a profit.........you know how it works take from the poor and give to the RICH.... :cussing:
paul yarek 08-27-2003, 08:40 PM mxz800,
you have that just about right but it is take from the super rich and give to the superior rich in this case.
gas just went up to 87.9 / litre this morning. 4 cent rize over yesturday and they say that it will get higher.
is there really a shortage on gas, or that just a bunch of bull?
