Bummer Jim,the first ding always hurts the worst!

Don't be too hard on her, things happen.

And of coarse it had to happen right on the body line ???

Go easy on her Jim. It's not like she meant to do it. I'm sure she feels terrible about it. Just don't let her pull a trailer again. :D

She was trying to help Jim. Give her this much, my wife wouldn't even attempt to drive a vehicle with a trailer attached. She would just go out and wreck her Rendezvous first before towing a trailer.

Quit stressing over this, either get it fixed or live with it. Your wife was trying to do you a favour, are you her judge and jury because she made a mistake?
I'm sure she feels bad enough without your silent treatment.
Both of our vehicles have some dents in them, it's not the worse thing that can happen in a marriage.
I think you owe her an apology for acting childish. Just my opinion though :p
PS: The dent in the door of our truck is worse than that  and I'm not saying who did that.

got snow??

i'll give you the other option ,, divorce her and she will not cry any more because she will own the truck , the sleds mustang, and the garage, and you will just pay for it. after you think about it that way it is easy to forgive!!

I understand what ya are sayin Jim my wife is the same way always eagar to help and please and sometimes does some silly things like that to impress me and they usually end the same way! like the door handle ripped off my third door on my new silverado LT , the big scratch down the side of my sled when she thought she would be nice and bring it out of the garage for me! It is hard but you just have to remeber that the good intensions are there just so are the scratches and dents! I use to get mad but thhen we would just fight over it and cause more stress then needed! I respect you for being silent though I probley would have had a few words with a dent like that in my brand new truck weather at her or just out loud! :(

dont be too hard on her man. she may be alittle easier on u when u want to go out riding sometime this winter and she wants u to stay home and spend some of that quality time with her.

my dad did the same thing back in 97 with his brand new truck. only a week old. messed the whole bumper and flar. was pretty ticked as well but stuff happens.

I can understand being pissed off. However, it could have been much worse, and in some ways, you carry a level of responsibility. A 5x8 trailer unhooks and muscles around without too much trouble, and downright easy if its an open unit like mine. It would have been no major effort to unhook the trailer, reposition the truck, and then reattach the trailer - the easy route that's ALWAYS the last one to be thought of at the time. :(

I would apologize to her, and make up for the silent treatment by taking her out to dinner. Then I'd teach her how to pull a trailer so that she won't be reluctant to help the next time when you really need it.

the problem is it is too hard to get mad at the wife because she has what all of us guys want. :( if we are too extreme we get none. :0:

Dude its just a truck if it was the sled then you could have reason to get upset.
So tell her its ok and she needs to make you a nice candlight dinner and some special desert to make it up to you.
Food makes all better.

I've told her the horror storys bringing my sled and trailer bacl from Wis with beth driving!!!!!!!!!! Atleast she didn't make contact! :D Call the cops, and say it was a hit and run in the parking lot ! He He. Beth's car got hit and the insurance coverd it all because it was a hit and run. Even got the whole side repainted as there were some scratche's. 2 yr's old and 4 accidents, only stock paint is the rear pass door and 1/4 panel lol.

Doesn't look Bad, OUCH!!! Get it fixed and move on with your life. it's all about perspective in life, there are much worse things. My wife would have felt so bad anyways, that I would not even needed to say a thing.

Anyway, not that big of a deal guys. Sure I was pissed, but this is just a speed bump in the long road of life and marriage. Maybe some of you took it a little too literally when I mentioned divorce :p Metal and plastic can be replaced....I replaced the last Yukon that was involved in an accident :D I thought I handled the situation well, she felt bad enough, so I didn't say anything. Last night she went to Cirque du Soleil with her mother, and I worked on the sleds...so all is well! I just hope she never discovers the cracks in a couple of her figurines from when the boys and I played ball in the house!!!!!!!!! :nervous: :D

Wolfman, you're exactly right....that's why I was mad. I never knew she was in that kind of trouble 'til after the damage was done. You bet your butt I would have disconnected the trailer....no brainer. I asked her to leave it where it was, thinking I could take care of it after I opened the garage. But in her good nature, she tried to get out of it herself.

Thanks for the comments....cheaper than therapy!!!!

Either way Jim,

You at least have the sleds at home and can start em up to smell that smelly smell of herbal two stroke therapy.

At least she tried to learn to back the trailer.

Not to make anyone mad here but .....

When the student fails ..... who's fault is it ?
Usually the teacher........

I understand how upset you were and glad to see you cooled down . It could happen to anyone ....

Kim, that's the right idea, and what I thought Deb would have done...just waited for me. It can be tricky to say the least for someone who doesn't have a lot of experience. Last night she said she couldn't believe I didn't get more angry than I did :sarcasm: Little does she know I vented on you guys!! SWRules

I had to take a load of yard waste to the dump today with my 4x8 utility trailer. I got it hooked up by myself, then had to back it up first at the dump (holding my breath the whole time) and then back it into my driveway (only took 2 tries!)

Yeah, Trailblazer is a good teacher! :inlove:

You have no one to blame but yourself. My wife drove the truck 30 miles with the brake on, and not long after put it in the ditch. So not I won't let her drive it anymore. We can't afford for her to wreck the thing. There's not reason she can't take the car wherever she needs. Anywho, you shouldn'ta let her pull the trailer. But then, she would have been in the 'stang, and much worse could have happened..

Hey Jim,

Sorry to rehash this but you told me to look at it. A lot of folks here have some good, philisophical views that I probably agree on. But the one I don't is the dinner thing. Heck, if anyone owes someone dinner, she should be taking you out :inlove: From the sounds of it on the local news tonight from O'Fallon, make sure she takes you to that Mexican place in your neck-of-the-woods. That ought to go over real well :cussing: .

Later,
Jon

By the way, my wife would rather choose from the following than pull a trailer:

- Throw up on a crowed bus? :nervous:
- Hit your thumb with a hammer? :cussing:

What's your wife going to choose from now on? :(
