I recently bought a 87 ford turbo coupe as a parts car for my 88, the turbo is good on the 88 ,so now I have a extra turbo laying around. I was thinking of building a turbo ZRT, or a polaris tripple. I was going to use it on my 02Pro-x but its a fan :( .
So its between a AC or polaris. I think the pol. is a better choice? It is a 94 XLT Indy Special W/ 4638miles , I know High miles, but it all I gots.
What I want to know is will the 600 tripple make enough exaust to spool the turbo up?
The turbo is a Borg-Warner IHI , A little smaller than a garett T3. Max boost is around 15 pounds, I only plan on making 5psi :p .
Also will the bottom end hold? I know there are kits out there, does any one know what size turbos they use and amount of boost?

To properly do this is going to take a lot of planning and fabricating. How do you plan on feeding oil to the turbo ?

The Ford engine that donated the turbo is three times the size of the engine you are thinking of putting it on. You would not make near enough exhaust pressure to spool the turbo before the lake ended. It would be a turd!!!!!

As for the aftermarket turbo kits? They use a self contained turbo that has wick oiling for the bearings and they are sized for smaller displacement two strokes. They have variable vane technology which helps them spool quicker and controls boost pressure.

A good friend has one on a XC 700 that absolutely rocks. It is a completely trailable sled that has never been beaten on the lake, even against dedicated lake racers.

BTW: He bought it as a kit and has two years of solid R&D into it to make it reliable. This guy is sharp. These so called kits are not for everyone. Beware of Boost!!!!!!!

I ran an aerocharger on my 97 mxz670, huge power but you need to know your clutching and you need to know theres a fine line that you cant cross when it comes to boost levels and fuel octane.. I ran 11 lbs of boost on c-14 with alcohol injection and the sled was a rocket, made over 200 hp. 6 lbs was walking the line for high octane pump fuel.

I would say that my buddies XC 700 runs about those same numbers. 6psi max on pump fuel. Like I stated above, his sled is a terror. The beauty is that it is quiet, smooth and very powerful. The torque curve is so broad that it feels like a big torque V8 does in a car.
