I know you dont want to hear this, but i am a Die hard Cat guy and a clutching and suspension set up god when it comes to the ditch pickles, but I am yamaha illiterate and need some good clutching ideas for a 00 sxr 500. it is my wifes sled, and I want to hop it up a bit. I was thinking about something like a 46/40 ish helix with just a bit more tension on the secondary spring and one step up on the primary spring. I am not sure on the weights though.

I dont know how the yamaha aftermarket camps are with their clutch kits, but for the cats most offering from places like Black Magic and D and D suck. Thats why I started making my own, and would like to possibly expand my horizons with the yamaha.

I know this guy( denis gravelle) here had a 99 SX 500 that was really quick and surprised a lot of 600 owners, yes the 600 eventually passed him but he had a true sleeper, also i saw under the hood and it was a 500 twin

I have a kit for you for $160 shipped that would have everything you need to make that sled a sleeper.Another cheap and easy mod is peel the head gasket.good for another 5-8 h.p.It'll make that baby feel super snappy.let me know if you have any questions.thanks rich

What do you mean peel the head gasket, run it with no head gasket?

www.maxxperf.com is the site for Maxximum Performance. They are GREAT people to deal with and will help you tremendously. Never had a 500 but the 600 and 700 like to be dropped one tooth on the upper (small) sprocket to gear it down a tad. Believe it or not it will actually get better fuel economy as the engine is not bogging nearly as much.
