I was looking at the local Bargain hunter and found this add

95 STX 583 LT 2up ES/reverse for $2300 or trade for short track sled of same value

When I bought my 95 STX 583 ,I was actually more interested in the STX LT but found mine at a good price and shape,

Has any of you made a trade on a sled before??

Both sleds are in about the same shape/km wise

If I were to get the STX LT the 2up would be gone as well as the highwindshield,so it would be sorta like a 95 STX Renegade :hallo1: vs a Grand Touring :sarcasm: it currently looks like

Might see if he would swap windshields, mine is kinda personnalized

Any Bank or finacial loaners know what I can do here

My problem is that my sled is currently tide in with my car loan ??? (Bought sled and car at $6200 and have $2200 to pay off now)

Can I transfer a sled of equal value in a loan ???

I love my STX 538 but have the same sled as a longtrack would be a bonus IMO

I am just poundering this as it would be a swap with little if any $$$ involved

I can not afford a newer sled for another year sooo.. would do ya think of the trade, without going into its an old sled @#% ok

If you want a long track then do a long track conversion. I see 136 skids for sale for the F chasie on other sites all the time [cheap].
Only problem with trading is you dont know the sled but you know yours.
The way I see it, a sled that old with low miles means it has been sitting a lot and probably not properly stored, kind of like a time bomb ready to blow!
You have to weigh all the differences, if it was an even steven trade that would help. Only you can decide.

If the loan holder has your titles combined in one loan that could be a tough issue to work around, that is if it be a bank or credit holdings company. If the holder is a relative or friend you might work things out.

....I hate buying used. Generally you find out what the real issues are untill you start riding the new used sled. If you know your sled and are comfortable with it as far as knowing if its mechanically sound and well cared for, then If it were me, i would stay with what I had. You could be trading your good machine for a peice of junk.....thats the chance you take on a deal like this.

Other than that eveytthing is relative. So you trade your short track for the LT or the "renegade" of its day which is hard to compare to todays standards. The LT is gonna be heavier and that engine has to work alot harder to turn that track then your engine does to move yours.....so you may get a smoother riding sled if the suspension is still okay, but you will lose HP in the process.

It is your decision to make, but if your gonna trade, trade up. Trading sideways or trading backwords dont make sence.

Good luck

if yours is mint and u know nothing is wrong with it keep yours. like mikadoo said u never know what could be wrong with it and it could be a big problem just waiting to happen, IMO.

I would do like some of the others said and do a long track conversion.

I'd say just get a deep-lug track, like a 1.5". Your ride will remain the same and HP loss will be far less than with a long track conversion. You know the in's and out's of your sled, so don't risk getting a piece of junk in trade. Good luck.

Hey F-Zed,

Why don't you aim for an S-chassis, an MXZ 670 or the like?

That cost $$$$ mattie  of course a MXZ583/670 would be great but $$$ is not into my budget

the point of this post is it will cost next to nothing if done :)

I would get what I wanted and he would get what he wants :sly:

In a perfect world I we would swap sleds and engines,as I know mine runs great, and not risk having a piston popper ;)

I love my STX but want a longtrack therefore the thought of this trade
