I'm looking at a 93 MXZ 470 for my girlfriend to ride.... Any opinions on this sled I presently have a 98 formula dlx 583. Is this what I should be looking at or something newer & smaller like a 440 or a 380? Mostly Trail riding.

I would look for something newer with more suspension; if she's not comfortable, she won't be using the sled much.

I also wouldn't go for anything too small, I don't know what her experience is but even if she's a newbie she'll soon learn and want to be keeping up. I'd recommend at least a 500.

By the way, don't you just love your sled? I've got the '99 version! :D

My sister in law had one for 4 seasons (bought it new) & was quite happy w/ it. I think depending on her riding abilities, she'll "outgrow" a 380 or 440 fan pretty quick.

Listen to what Jacqui says shes a very wise women and knows what she wants and i'm sure she could relate to your girlfriend somewhat!

BTW: i have an '89 MX and it goes like stink for a 470!

Thanks for the input everyone.. I don't want to spend too much on another sled. considering I'm the one paying for everything .

That's another good point. Perhaps if you go with what you can afford now, then if she gets "the bug" :D , you could always upgrade down the road.

My girlfriends rides a 98 MXZ 500 and considering she had only ridden once before that i was a little nervous about her getting it but she caught on real fast and i am glad she didnt get a 440. and when she wants to ride yours all the time because she doesnt like hers you'll wish you had gotten a newer sled.
