Ok I put a ported, shaved heads and cylinders 440 fan with .025 copper head gaskets in my 73 el-tigre. *It has 145 lbs compression dual mikunis with 300 mains, the 340 cdi igniton system. *I'm running the old 87 octane that was in the tank and once it's warmed up I can hear it ping soon as it starts to run on the pipe under normal acceleration. *I'm not pounding it yet, I don't want to blow it up already LOL. *Am I going to need Av gas or turbo blue or is just 93 good enough? *Even if I don't hear it ping, it could still be pinging right?

I would run 90+ octane , my 77 panther 5000 calls for it right on the hood. I wouuld also try a fuel additive or a *set of colder plugs. I should clear up your pinning rember mix the gas and oil heavy for the first ride of the year, and you shouldn't have a problem.

old sleds always require 90+ octane remember they were built when gas was cheap
