I've got a 01 XC 800 with a roller secondary (stock) and was wondering why Polaris went back to button style in 2002. Was the roller no good or what? Also can any other OEM clutch fit on this sled? (Skidoo, Cat, etc)

I have no idea why they went back to button secondary.

Dont get rid of your roller though...
If you have the tall thin yellow rollers....KEEP IT.
Those have to be the toughest rollers I have seen other than AC white rollers from an oem.
I wish Bomber/Goodwin made their rollers out of this material that Pol uses.
That Goodwin roller is a cash cow for them MHO....my a$s hurts every time I have had to buy replacement rollers. JUNK!

A Cat secondary will fit Pol.
Skidoo will not fit Pol.

Pol/Cat secondary shaft dia is 25.4mm [1 inch]
Ski doo secondary shaft dia is 25 mm [.016" smaller diameter]

Are you not satisfied with your secondary?

Yes I am happy with it, but as usual there is room for better performance. Im looking for a clutch kit, but not sure what to go with. Hot seat kit and Heel clickers are what I am interested in, any suggestions?

I bet if you call "DALE" at Dalton...

...tell him what your sled is, I bet he can recommend something that is very popular.
Like one of these:
PR52/42-34
PR52/42-36

Similar to the "R" style step helix Pol uses.
As the "P" helix, the 52 number blends into a smooth progressive 42-36.

Very nice midrange pull instead of simply dropping from a 52 into a 3x deg angle.
Thru the midrange speeds you have the capacity to slide back into the end of the 52 angle and utilize the torque of a cooler pipe at low speeds, then at the upper end of the midrange you utilize the hot running pipe where a lower angle is required to maintain top speeds.

Hell, I would go with something like this using a Doo-Beige secondary spring or an ACat Yellow secondary spring.

Dale may be able to offer something fitting. :D
