Hello all, I just got done servicing my driven and when I tested the spring with a scale it starts to open at about twenty one lbs. but only fifteen when it starts to close. Why such a spread? Is the spring fatigued? Sled has 3200 miles on. Thanks. :sly:

the difference if probably due to either /or: button drag on the cam, bushings in the sheaves loose and binding a little. The spring wouldn't cause this. You might just try hooking your scale up at a couple different location and see if it makes a difference. The fact that skidoo outlines this procedure as an avg. pull and release tension would indicate that it common if not normal. I never concern myself with it and always just go with the pull off tension.

I would say the spring is ok, the proper way to check secondary preload is to add the opening and closing # together then devide by 2. 21 + 15=36 devide by 2 =18 should be right in the ball park.
