I tried this topic on the Doo page and got no help. I want a little more snap out of my 02 mxz 600 adr. Will I be happier with a clutch kit (which is best on Doo 600's?), or would a Team roller (which has a kit when installed ) be better? Will I be able to tell the difference on the trail between them ? Is the extra money for the roller worth it? The engine is stock. Thanks :D

The roller is worth it for trail and mountain. Most guys that have them love them. The race guys are still a mixed bunch. They haven't really been out long enough to be as well accepted there...yet. I don't think there is much doubt they will be. Are they worth the money? That's your decision. If I were making my mind up betrween a pipe or the clutch at the same price, well, that would be a tough one for a trail machine.

Roller secondarys are awsome but the cost for 3 little rollers is nothing but outrages! For instance, the Skidoo roller that comes only on the 440mxzx racer, the rollers cost $50.00 each to replace!!!! Totally unacceptable in my book! They say then dont last to long either so I can buy alot of buttons for that.
If you are into racing and need every little bit then money is no object if you want to win, right?

Hi Mikado, you know the goodwin roller secondary on my formula SS lasted 10,000 miles. They are better on belts and backshift is instant, but you need to run more spring tension than what came stock on my F-SS. If anyone wants my set-up I used on the F-SS just ask. :D :D

I will vouch for what Mikadoo say's about the S/D roller secondary through personal experience. If you want one for trail riding stay away from the S/D roller.Last year mine overheated and melted the roller's which I always thought were flimsy and cheaply made to begin with.I checked to see how much for the roller's and was told $70 Can. each so I ended up throwing the whole unit in the trash along with a destroyed belt.IMO I would go with the Goodwin teflon buttons for trail and spend the money you save somewhere else.

For what it's worth,I have a cat roller clutch on my 99 mxz 600 and What a difference in backshift and upshift.the belt temps are real cool to the touch.I will never go back to the button clutch.Helixes are real cheap also. :D

Replacement roller kit & retainer screws
$59 U.S.
Pkg of 3
From Goodwin

In Canada they are sold from Karl Fast in Wpg.

What secondary is on this 600 adr?
HPV 24
or
Formula [old style]

I have no problem with these Dooey roller secondaries. I had 3600 miles before I had to replace a set of rollers. I could have got more miles on them but when I installed one aftermarket helix, I did not have the right thickness of shim under the snap ring. The roller went to the top of the helix and over the corner of the transition....*DENT* :cussing:

I think they are fine secondaries. Just have to watch the washer under the snap ring and keep the secondary clean inside the roller cavity.

Just ordered a Team after a lot of research. Little more money, but from what I've heard, it should be worth it.
