I've been rust checking my sleds every spring every spring for years, but I'm starting to wonder if it's worth it. Dust sticks to it more, and it smokes like a son-of-a-stich whenever you start it, and for the first day you ride. Plus, it's not like it eliminates rust, it just slows it down.

I buy the rust check in the green can. it is for storage and stuff like that. I try and clean allot of it off before I start it though. that way all the dirt and dust that it collects gets cleaned off. I coat all the suspension parts too . just keeps everything working free and looking good. and I usually do it after every water event too . Works for me. and it doesn't cost much at all. well worth the money.

Yea, that's the stuff I use, and I coat everything that's metal on the sled. Doing the suspension is definatly worthwhile. I guess I've been taking the lazy man's way with the engine though. I just let it burn off. I'll try giving it a quick wipe down before I start them up again.

mx_462, it's just called Rust Check. You can get the stuff in the green can or the red can. I think the green can is thicker, and sticks a bit better. You can get it at Canadian Tire or anywhere like that.

I use KROWN rustproofing in an aerosol can to do my sleds. I do everything under the hood except the clutches. I clean them and store it with the belt off and clutches dry. I re-clean them in the fall just to be sure.

It works good on keeping the electrical connections in good shape.

In the fall I clean them up and they look like new. I lightly re-touch the connections and metal suspension parts to keep it protected and dust free.

I keep the skid coated in the winter also as it also keeps it from oxidizing from the salt.

It works good on the trailer also, axle, wheels etc.

I get them to toss me a can when I have my car and truck in for their yearly fall KROWN treatment. So far it is the best rustproofing I've seen and does wonders on the skid, ski's, shocks and springs especially if you trailer on an open trailer with just a slush guard and cover. You can get it at KROWN or I see now Canadian Tire is carrying it also.
