I debating whether I should up the number of studs in my track, or switch to a better more aggressive track, either an 1" or an 1.25".
I'm a little worried about clearance with the 1.25"though, and I don't want to lose too much top end.
Who has tried different tracks on the older XCR's, and what would you recommend?

I have the 133.5" x 1.5" on my '96. Not sure what mods were done to put it on as I didn't do it, but the previous owner had it put on by a dealer.

A friend of mine long-tracked his XLT and had to put on smaller drive cogs to allow clearance of the deep lug track, so I know you can do it without rolling the chaincase. I suspect that's what has been done with yours.
Ideally I'd like to drop in a deeper lug track without any further modifications, except maybe lowering the gearing a little. I'm thinking a 1" staggered lug would be the way to go.
Anybody else tried this?

If youre worried about losing top end speed - go with 1 inch instead. It all depends on what you are looking to do with you sled - if youre doing alot of backyard racing but short burst, then go with 1.25 for better hookup. If top speed is your game, then 1 inch would be the best way to go with or get like 1/2 inch paddle and add 144 studs. WL.

I've got a 1.25" on my XCR and have never had any problems with it. There were no modifications done to put it on, it was a good fit.

Go big or stay home!!!!!!!!!! It's amazing the crappy tracks sled makers installed on high HP sleds, yam being the worst offender.

Picked up a .95" staggered lug today for a good price. I think it's the best of boths worlds. It'll still be studable, but it'll hook up ALOT better then the .75 that came on the XCR stock.
