In Madoc Ontario there is a restaurant called Two Loons and it has great sandwiches and chiken wings and fries. The trail goes right through the parking lot.

Man, I haven't been to the Blue Moon in years. Wow, what a place to eat.
Went to a few golf tournaments that fed us there quite a few years back. Eat/Drink and Fart like real men. My arteries are clogging up, just thinking about it. :p

In Exeter, there is a place the serves a great buffet on Sundays for brunch. Great place to stop for a bite. Can't remember the name, buts its just across the road from the gas station, just down the road from McDonalds.

Well... I like going to The Fiery Grill in Dorset!
Kind of cool to have lunch and watch the puddle jumpers!

We also try and get to Castaways in Bracebridge. Good food and some good eye candy... depending on the day that is!!! lol

Love the firey grill, and they have great food.

The Purple Pig in Bracebridge is a good place to get some good grub also.

Unfortunatly the nor-dorf in martin river is now closed..damn good food too. Gilley's in Liskeard is good. Esso in Englehart has a great soup bar, its our favorite stop. Decent little place in Elk lake but their name escapes me for now

At the end of last year "The Saw Mill" ( i think thats the name) half way between Timmins and MAtachawan was out of Gas and apparently wasn't going to be open this winter. Any one with info let us know. This was a needed gas stop on this trip.
And she had great homemade soup pies and such.

That's a great place for breaky or dinner. Good service even w/ busy. The service @ the New Liskeard Econo Lodge restaurant last winter sucked big time.

That's just ducky :cussing: We were hoping to head back to New Liskeard from Timmins that way on our northern trip this winter. We missed the turn south that way last winter (signing was really good, NOT!).

My brother works w/ a guy that moose hunts just east of the Sawmill, so he's going to find out what the situation is.

Regarding the Sawmill question I was in Shining Tree a few weeks ago and the story remains that they will not be open this winter. She had awesome truly home cooked food and was very nice. For some it could be a problem if your sled is hard on fuel without this stop.

Revrnd: they are expanding gilley's AGAIN!! you thought it was busy before..The country kitchen downtown near the waterfront motel (L182 goes right by there on the lake) has decent food and a sunday brunch which isnt too bad either..Steve

i think we should get over to 04mxzadr's moms place :slick:

has anyone not ever stopped at Yanny's in Coldwater, because if you haven't you don't know what is in store for you. just a hint here, a great big giant front yard to park your sled and it is full of sleds during the season. then you go to a world sized buffet of european food that will have you overwhelmed. it is right on the trail through Coldwater, you can't miss it.

3 items of interest in Paudash Trailblazersland:

The restaurant on Hwy. 28 in Apsley that used to be the Golden Pheasant is now Mary's Place. I don't know if the access will be reopened to E107.

Martinwood north of Harcourt where LadyK worked this summer will not be open this winter,

Also, there will not be gas @ the Algonquin Cookhouse in Harcourt. The closest gas is in Wilberforce.

Mark me down as a fan of the Firey Grill in Dorset.

Lakers in Gravenhurst seemed okay when I was there last year and the Purple Pig in Bracebridge is always good. Adrienne's on Highway 11 in Huntsville (also an Esso station) is pretty good too.

My favourite spot would be Sprucedale Hotel. It's right on the Seguin trail, and it's always hoppin' on a good snowy weekend. Usually live entertainment on Friday and Saturday nights. Good times....good times!! There's a Shell station about 300 yards to the east of it, right on the trail. Sprucedale is about 32 miles east of Parry Sound, on C/D trails. Last I checked, the gas station closes at 9 PM.
See yuz on the trail!

I've ridden by the Sprucedale Hotel and it's been busy every time, but never stopped in... maybe this winter.

The Bala Bay Inn is another one that's hopping on the weekends.

P.S. Thanks for the tip, Skidoo. Maybe I'll just have nachos. Any you guys been to the boilerroom in Dwight? I haven't stopped there yet.

About 4 years ago we stopped for lunch in Baysville, east of the bridge & on the north side of Hwy. 117. I can't think of the name of the place. It was like an old logging camp.

Two more places in northern Ontario:

The Kenogami Bridge Inn west of Kirkland Lake on Hwy 11, just off TOP A. Nice place.

The restaurant @ the Glendale Motor Inn in Iroquois Falls. We ate there on Valentine's Day & the 1 guy that was working was hitting on a guy's date  :D . Too funny

My cottage and base camp is about 5 minutes from the Sprucedale Hotel. In fact, I was there last week during deer season. We missed the strippers by one night, but somehow I can't see the strippers being too high quality from the Sprucedale Hotel.

I'm amazed how busy that place is in the winter. Sure isn't for the food, although its decent, and since its close, I tend to eat there more than I care too.

I think this place may have been mentioned earlier by KING. He said Two Loons is a good spot. Well He's not lying, the two loons club is very good, and so are their wings. we both have cottages on moira lake and we usually stop out to two loons quite frequently in teh summer. But in the winter it is unbelievable how many sleds u see parked outside the restaurant.

There is also another place which we have stopped at a few times. It is Called the lighthouse restaurant, they too have a trail from the tracks that leads right to the restauraunt, They make the best chicken burgers around.
