I have 98 ZR 600. Can anyone tell me the fix of the problem of the PTO side drive shaft bearing going out every 800 miles? I work on 7 cat sleds for friends and self. All were purchased new. The 98 ZR has had 5 bearings replaced, two 2001 600efi MT cats have had 3 replaced, 2001 ZL 500 had 1, 2000 ZL 500 had 1, 1996 cougar had 2, 1995 cougar had 2. WHY & HOW TO FIX? Also the drive clutch on the ZR 600 must be gone through every 600 miles for weight wear and every 1000 miles for buttons, rollers and bushing wear. Primary drive clutch and secondary clutch was sent out for balance. All was in balance.

The drive shaft could be bent, or somehow out of spec. Is it just the PTO side the has problems, or does the bearing in the chaincase have problems too. Maybe you have to grease the PTO bearing after every ride. If the bearing is well lubed and it still does not last, then there must be something out of alignment, or balance that is beating that bearing up, but you think it would affect both ends of the drive shaft? ??? .

The PTO side only bearings on all these sleds have been replaced. The problem must be a cat problem or wrong bearing design?????
