Is it recommended to sparingly spray a little Comet Clutch lube spray on the moving and high friction areas of your clutches? (NOT the belt surfaces : ) )
After I bought a can of the stuff everybody's telling me not to use it.
It's a dry lube made for this purpose, it just seems to me like it would help with wear.
It's not supposed to attract dirt and belt dust.
What do you guys think.

Last year when I was in the UP I had a guy stop and talk with me. We were working on clutches and we got talking. I wanted to try and get some lube for mine and my buddy said not to do it. Well the guy from Munising, said that up here in the UP we have to depend on our sleds, life or death, sometimes, when the snow is really flying and himself and everyone he knows lubes them. The key word is sparingly spray the lube. Try to "flex" the shieves manually after spraying to get the lube on the surfaces. After working it in then I would wipe up any that is seen left behind. Most of those sprays are a powder type lubricant like a molyb or graphite, so I can't see it hurting anything if used in the right amounts and cleaned up after application.

I wouldn't use anything on my clutch on my 95 Z440. Just do some general clean up every 1500 miles and she will live long.

I have used wd-40 on the rollers of my clutchs and never had a problem, spray on sparingly and wipe any excess off,,,,,no problems,,,

I used it a while back and didn't notice a difference in wear. IMO not worth the $ they charge.
