Hello:
Our grass track is 500' of one of the smoothest flats I've seen.
Very nice but from start to finish is a FIVE foot increase in elevation.
Anyone ever test in such a track and what kind of complications were seen when on a flat track like an actual race.
What kind of clutching problems will I get on a flat?

too easy, run the track both ways and split the difference? sorry joe, couldn't resist. It reminds me of when I first got into cycling and had the revelation that there is no flat ground.

I think some of the tracks we race on have a 5` difference.

I dont think 5 feet is anything to worry about.

500 foot track, that tells me your just running drags, correct?I fail to see what your concern is,being backshifting is not going to be an issue in drag racing ??? .

Leave it to Joe to drag out a transit to see what the elevation is!
Joe, I bet you even do soil samples so you can adjust for traction.... :p

Thing is say I can pull off 6.4x, 6.4x, 6.4x, 6.4x, 6.4x, 6.4x at the required rpms for this grade...
...then I get onto a flat surface, what changes if any will I have to do for clutching?
Will I overrev a little bit?
If so, then I know if I rev as much as 100 over I will be back down into 6.8x times.
I guess the real story will show when I get a chance to be on a flat.

we raced onsted, michigan this weekend(psgdra). there was about a 5' rise and our times were .1 slower on the f7. and nobody really said anything about it making a big difference.
