I have never done any tweaking on snowmobile clutches but i would like to put a clutch kit in my 98 mxz 583. I would like a little more grunt out of the hole. What all is involved? do i need any special tools? I am a diesel mechanic so i have the skill but have never done one. any help is appreciated.

Yes you need tools. And you should get a service manual too. You are gonna need a spanner wrench. A spring compressor( I made one out of a big ### bolt with a nut) You are gonna need a clutch puller. And a torque wrench. If you dont know what youre doing youd probably be better off having someone else install it for you. A lot of shops have kits for that motor.

I would suggest cudney's kit + add some 286, 285 or 293x ramps. Gave my little formula 583 a big big bonus. If I could'ove just filmed my friend with his polaris 700 after I smoked him with my little 583 rocket, he was maaaaaaaaaad :cussing: :p
