Well it is that time of year again.

The 2003 sugar beet haul will be starting this coming monday. I would like to take a min to let everybody know that there will be alot of trucks,tractor, and pickups on the road. they will be driven by people that will not be getting much sleep.

Please take the time to think about this and try to be understanding and give all of use a little room out there. i was taking our roto beater out of the shed and i got it down the road almost to the farm and somebody in a black car was just hauling. i had my four way flashers on and the beater was in plain site. well long story short, i just made3 it over farm enought that this character made it by me with no accfidents, but i was sweating.

I forgot to say that the soybean harvest will be in going on as well. so everbody will also have to dodge those combines.

Oh yes the good old sugar beet. We have tons and TONS of sugar beet farmers around here. Out where I'm at it is the "Amalgamated Sugar Co." I believe it is now grower owned. I drive by one of the main beet processing plants, for the area around here, everyday. You gotta love that smell.........or hate it. I've smelled worse. I remember picking up my sister's roommate at the airport one time and driving by the plant on the way home. She was from California, and a bit shall we say "airy" in the head, although quite good looking.........Anyway, we drove by the isles upon isles of beets and she asks "what are those?" to which I replied "sugar beets". To which she asked, "well what are those for?" "Sugar beets??" I responded.........she was slow...... "For sugar" I responded. "OOOOOOOOOooooohhh, well I thought sugar only came from sugar cane." she said. Oh well, she laughed at herself. At least she saw her error.
