I just bought this sled 3 days ago, has 5K miles on it, PERFECT showroom shape.
I went to start it tonight and had no spark.
If I let it sit sometimes I will see a weak yellow spark from one of the plugs once, and thats it.
It ran perfect the other day, now today nothing.
I checked to make sure the key was on, the kill switch up, and the tether cord set.
Any ideas? Im pretty certain its not any of the above 3 items since sometimes it gets a faint spark- right?
Thanks everyone.

I don't know much about electrical, I would think it could be a problem with the coil as my friend had the same problem. It was his coil, so start there first. Good luck!

Any idea how to test the coil?
Anyone have a price?

Probally got it flooded and the plugs are fouled.Give it a couple yanks with the plugs out to clear the crankcase and put some new plugs in.Good luck.

I guess I should have said this, I put a brand new set of plugs in as well.

Check the plug caps good. Some of these sleds had issues with bad caps. Might want to swao them out for new ones.
Also The stator could have gone bad. More of a Pain to fix than the caps, but may be the prob.

How can I test these parts? I have electrical knowledge and a multimeter.
I know its problably either a coil or a stator, or amplifier box.
I will check the caps but seems to me they wouldnt both quit at the same time.

Hi how are ya ? I can see not to good , First off I would bypass all the switches , Then do a search on here for STATOR PLATE . I have a 96 Mach-z and I had to do the stator on it , your motor is a Triple cyl right ? Well good luck .

Thanks for the help. My engine is a 583 2 cylinder.
Now I checked for spark again tonight and I get it sometimes (maybe once every 20 pulls) and it sparks both at the same time.
I checked kill switch, and key switch, tether seems okay as well. I did bypass all but theter.
Anyone have any thoughts?
Thanks

The only thing that I can say is that make sure all of your wire connections are nice and tight. I hate electrical problems!!!

You can check the coils for continuity and shorts and what not but unless you know what the readings should be exactly it's hit and miss. The best way is if you have access to another sled that runs you can swap out the parts until you find the prob then go get the new parts. Dealers don't have time for this kind of elimination so they just keep bolting on new parts until it runs, not bashing dealers as there is some out there that have guys that just know exacly what the prob is. Another big prob is you may inadvertently "bump" the problem area while checking something else and then the dang thing works again. My point is have a good look as you work on it because corroded connections can cause a good part to seem faulty. Hope this helps ya

Well thank you for the help.
I checked for continuity of the coil. it was fine so that tells me theres problably nothing wrong with the coil.
Now I checked the voltage of one of the stator leads going into the cdi box, it was 60 MILLI-volts when I tryed to start the sled. These were the 2 wires that go to the pickup on the stator. Anyone know what it should be?
Also when I try to start it my headlight comes on very faintly as it should, so the stator is giving voltage to run accessories. Would this mean the stator is ok?
Thanks for any other help guys.
