First of all, I just pulled the primary off my 02' mxzx800. There is a large amount of build-up coating the entire primary. What do I use to clean all of this off? I read in another post to just use air. I think there is too much crap built up and the air won't take it all off. Also I read in another post to use Brake Parts Cleaner or Varasol...which one do I use...and where would I get Varasol.
Secondly, I plan on taking off my RER secondary. I know that spring pressure is high on these. Do I need any special tools, like a spring compressor, or is there a tool that can be made to do the same thing? Are there any tricks to these RER secondaries? Thanks

get yourself a fine scotchbrite pad and use acetone to clean the sheaves till they are dull, then wipe off until nothing comes off, if your gonna play with your clutches then buy the tool from doo to do it safely

here here......I concur with what doo900 mentions.
Might want to get some rubber gloves to go with that acetone.
Acetone goes to the blood in about 9 seconds and less than a minute to your liver. *ugh*
Go here..

Then 1/2 way down the middle of the page in CLUTCH....

Top left corner...

Can't beat that price with a stick.

At work here we had a guy from the Govt Health/safety put on a seminar about chemicals we use in the mill. He talked of what we use to clean parts and personal protection...
...mentioned that Acetone is great cleaning fluid but real baaaaaad for the blood and liver.

Joe is dead right about the acetone.......also watch for cleaners with MEK (methyl ethyl ketone) in them, they are even worse.
Wear protection especially if you are going to have prolonged exposure to either, most companies have MSDS sheets available on line now so you can see exactly what you need to protect yourself.
