Im about to prep my sled for the season, i remembered last season adding chain case oil about two times, their doesnt seem to be any leaks but the last time i added a hole container, i put about 2500 miles on the sled last season, i guess i will get a better idea when i open the cover.Any ideas why im adding so much?

well it has to be leaking some where,if you don't find any external leaks on the top side check the underside they can be hard to see sometimes. just keep looking you'll find it good luck

Take the chaincase cover off and put on a new o-ring seal and re-install to proper torq. spec's.To many people overtighten them and then they leak.

If the cover were leaking, I would have thought you would see a pretty grimy area around the bottom of it. If that's not the case (no pun intended), my bet is it's the driveshaft seal. The snow and ice blowing around in there can keep the inside of the tunnel pretty clean, but sometimes it's pretty easy to see your oil all over in that area. Most easily viewed from the opposite side looking across. It nearly has to be one of those 2 places.

I agree with michahicks. Had the similar problem once... Very hard to notice until you pull the entire chaincase off!

where are you dumping that oil? most chaincases would be way over full if you added a whole quart!!! there should be a puddle of oil on the floor.

I keep a very clean engine i spray everything down with simple green and then hose it down every end of weekend of driving, Its like its evaporating away . The first time i thought the dealer forgot to add oil at the beginning of the season, the next time i checked it their was only a drop left and near the end of season i refilled it and after 600 miles or so their was still oil, so when i tear it apart soon i should get a better idea as to were its leaking if its the drive shaft seal i guess that means i should change all bearings as well is that a good idea after 5500 miles ?
