Had trouble starting my MachZ after sitting idle for about 6 weeks. I have started it a few times through the off-season. After putting in fresh plugs and taking the float bowls off to ensure everything was clean, it will only run on 2 cylinders. The PTO side remains dead for the most part. It will run on 3 cylinders under full or half choke only, so I can assume the problem is fuel related. I have had this same problem for the last couple of years at the pre-season start-up. This year I thought with the fuel stabilizer and regular start-ups in the summer I would have the problem beat! In the past I have taken it to my local dealer and they do a pre-season service and everything works great once again. :D What I would like to know is what exactly needs to be cleaned on these carbs to ensure proper fuel flow. Everything looks absolutely spotless in the float bowls. I removed the main jet and cleaned it also. Help!!! I'm getting frustrated! :nervous:

make sure all the pilot jets and everything are cleaned out, blow air through them. make sure fuel and oil lines are clean, check oil filter. good luck

Now that you have said it "will" run on all 3 under choke indcates the pilot jet is most likely plugged. The pilot is located next to the main jet inside a tube with a screw driver slot. You must remove the bowl to get it out. This jet has several very small holes so look it over good.
Remember, the main jet has nothing to do with start up or idling, only from about 5/8 throttle up.
The best way to end your problems is to fog the engine, run it out of fuel and forget it until riding time comes around.

Thanks for the info guys. I cleaned the Pilot Jets on all 3 carbs, and drained the remainder of the old fuel out. Added 5 gallons of fresh Premium. Once again the sled has 3 heartbeats. Sure sounds sweet. I hope my new '03 Mach gives me the same performance and reliability the '99 has delivered over the years. Gonna miss it when it's sold! :inlove:
