Just wondering how do you know when to go with a bigger carb. I have an 03 800 thats Ported, RKT head, Turbo Crank, Wiseco pistons that are coated, Crankshop single pipe, 40hp shot of N2O.

Usually at the point that you are at, if you are drag racing or doing WOT lake runs. Have you modified the 2 air boxes yet on the REV for more air flow? If you're ditch banging and trail riding, I personally would leave the 40's on it, or taper bore them. The larger you go the less signal you will get and the more troublesome they will get to jet during temp and barometric air changes.

just my .02 cents worth

I know at least one 800 that ran better with 44's at altitude. I think the true test is to ask yourself how you use the sled, on and off throttle corner to corner, or wfo across a lake? One test is to back the slides down so they hang into the bore 1-2mm at full throttle, if the power doesn't fall off then boring or bigger is a waste. if power does drop off, then you have to make a decision based on how much it dropped off.

id bore them 2mm. cheaper than new carbs and quite common.
